Saudis don't practice the Islam of 1400 years ago. The majority of Saudis are Whahabi, an Ideology that emerged in 17th or 18th century. When it started, it was only about 200 people of a Bedouin tribe.
Its leader mixed up teachings of Islam with Bedouin culture to make a new Ideology. They then teamed up with Brits and Sauds to advance their ideology all over Arabia. When they took control of the country, the Wahabis were given control of the cultural aspects of the country. They reshaped the public discourse and brainwashed the majority with their Wahabi idealogy by indoctrinating school children.
Still, this ideology spread among only a fraction of Muslim population (about 1%). Then the US teamed up with them and allowed them to have huge wealth with their oil money. The Wahabis used the money to spread their ideology all over the world among other Muslims. They built mosques, Madrasas with that specific goal in mind.
Now, lets fast forward to Afghanistan: When soviets launched an attack on Afghan insurgents, Saudi did the opposite, they supported the Insurgents and also gathered up many Whahabis from around the world. They also teamed up with CIA to make propaganda to get more Afghans to join the insurgency. They published textbooks of martyrdom that are still being used by Taliban. Yes, Taliban literally uses books published in US universities my master propagandists to teach their children.

Can you point out a single factual inaccuracy in my comment?
You talking about 1 book out of the 3 that are considerd holy books in islam. I don't know if what you are stating is factual correct as this is the first time i heard about it. But i wil do my research. On the other hand the Hadith and the Sunah are made by seeing how the profet lived and is a account of the witnesses of the profet.
Those books are around for nearly as long as the religion is present. And the oldest books found state exactly the same as those distributed now. So how do you explain that?
