My thoughts on the "BEST" phone of 2017

Today, the most notable tech YouTuber of all time Marques Brownlee AKA MKBHD has revealed his pick for smartphone of the year 2017. Personally I was not surprised with his choice as I am absolutely obsessed with these marvellous devices we call smartphones and I feel like I'm generally on the same wavelength with Marques when it comes to tech. I've worked in the consumer tech industry including telcos and Google for nearly a decade now and I've seen pretty much everything there is to see.

Recently I made the decision to upgrade from my Huawei P9 which had served me well, but It was definitely time to find the very best smartphone out there, which lead me to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Quick DISCLAIMER here, I don't believe the Note 8 is the best phone for everyone, far from it, in fact the one thing I've learnt in my time working with consumer tech is there really is something out there for everyone and that's primarily based on how you use your phone, what features you prefer over others, for example if the camera is your number one feature then go with the Google Pixel 2 XL, or if iMessenger is your thing then stick to iPhone. What I mean when I say the Galaxy Note 8 is the best phone of 2017 is that it's objectively the best phone of 2017. Everything from build quality to software features, this phone has it all, but if you don't need it all, then it's probably not for you.

I need it all. My current job requires me to be connected practically 24/7, I need to use several online programs, make plenty of phone calls, constantly take notes, take photos and send emails, often multitasking with split screen view, no other phone would be able to keep up with this, I've essentially replaced my MacBook with something five times more portable and just as if not more capable. As much as I love the idea of living side by side with an iPhone X, it just doesn't work for me.

As a legitimate phone connoisseur I can absolutely agree with YouTube's biggest tech reviewer when it comes to crowning the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 as the best phone of 2017. In today's world though, these things change so fast, I'm really looking forward to what 2018 has to offer, I've heard some pretty crazy things are just around the corner, what would you like to see come out of 2018?
