We support markdown!

Welcome to my forum. For years, I've been claiming I was going to make a P2P social network that could be used by the masses. Something which was community moderated, and immune to censorship. But the time's never been right. All the pieces have never lined up. Python's support for IPFS never got completed. There was no way for users to interact directly over IPFS without developing a blockchain for offline messaging.

For the last couple of days I've been hard at work, and have decided that it's time I overcome these challenges. I'm working hard to produce an online P2P community akin to Reddit, where instead of sub reddits, you see content from your friends, family, and followers.

Powered by Hive and IPFS

My P2P forums will run on Hive and IPFS. I've decided to switch from Python to Javascrip/Node. All your posts and comments will be stored on IPFS, allowing your friends, family, and followers to share what's yours, and leaving no individual entity in charge of what can or cannot said. Your content is immutable.

Free speech has never been more secure. Feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and get messy. We work on a social consequences model. If people don't like what you're saying, they can mute you.

Get paid for your content

Whether you use my platform to run a business -- listing products, post political opinions, or just to say, "hi." The Hive blockchain will monetize your comments, posts, likes, and shares. Allowing me to keep developing this network without ads or third party investors dictating practices. And allowing you to trade your in-app currency for actual cold hard cash.

Simple

Currently, the application has 3 simple pages: Feed -- to view content you've subscribed to, Post -- to create content for the network, and Profile -- to let everyone know who you are.

Feed

Our feed page is laid out similar to Gmail, with a list of everything your friends have posted up top, and a post viewer at the bottom of the page.

Post

The Post page is currently pictured.

What have you completed

In the past couple of days I've been hard at work, writing PUG markup for all the pages, and integrating IPFS content hosting. The next step will be to integrate with the Hive blockchain.

But I need your help

My vision for this network doesn't stop at communication. I have plans for this. Plans including P2P video calling, code hosting, and perhaps allowing people to monetize a simple game of Go. I want to develop Android, and iPhone apps. That's a little ways down the road though.

But a name is everything, and my network doesn't have one yet. I'm looking for your best name ideas for such a network. Throw your best suggestions down in the comments. And if you can spare some voting mana, vote on names you like.

Thanks. Early access should be available within the next month.
