Join Me as we attempt to use STEEMIT to change the WORLD!!!

"The Steemit community just needs to over come its fears, stop being cowardly, and find it in their heart to love one another. Maybe the plan isn’t so evil after all. "

The above quote is taken from a post by @dan, CTO of Steemit and founder of bitshares, regarding what he sees as the potential for Steem to change the world for the better.

I'm not going to lie, unlike the majority of the community, I'm not tech savvy. I don't really understand what is going on here at Steemit. If you read the above post, you'd know what I mean when I say I am "tip-of-the-iceberger". Like so many others, I came here because I thought "Cool, I can create content and get free money". That's it. I didn't know much about the whys and hows of things like "blockchains" and "steem power". I just wanted to post a photo of some awesome place I have been or some hilarious meme I saw and get paid for it. Then I started reading. I learned some basic lingo, some HTML commands and made a few posts. So far, I have earned one cent. I am not even on the tip of the iceberg. I'm literally swimming towards it, dying of hypothermia, desperately hoping I can latch on. That's it.

But, I love the content. I like to learn about this novel thing called Steem. I especially like to see what manages to trend in this unique social media environment. I see themes that you just don't come across on other social media platforms. The content that gets rewarded isn't the same mundane, self-centered drivel you see elsewhere. It's special, it has passion. It's real. Which brings me to my point (finally).

In line with the Steemit community's desire to change the world for the better, I have devised a plan to merge my rudementary and infantile command of Steemit with another passion of mine: Helping others who can't help themselves.

My proposition is simple. I am appealing to your sense of altruism, of empathy and asking you to upvote this post. If WE can hit a minimum $25 dollar value for this post, I will donate it to a charity that helps people in poverty stricken areas to start businesses.

GETTING MONEY TO PEOPLE WHO USE IT TO BETTER THEIR LIVES AND THE WORLD ECONOMY AS A WHOLE.

Sound familiar? The details of (www.kiva.org) can be viewed on their website, but essentially, kiva enables pre-screened borrowers to take out "micro loans" (the minimum value of which is $25USD). The borrower then uses the loan to start a business, (or build a well, or provide a necessary service) thus contributing to the health of their local economy. This gives the community a chance to bootstrap themselves and ultimately pay back the loan, where it is then re-invested in another similar venture in another community that needs it (Or it is extracted by the original donator, us).

How do you help? Simple. Make this post as popular as you can. Vote for it. Comment on it. Tag other users. Let us see if we can use this new take on social media to solve real social PROBLEMS.

If successful, I will follow up with a post on how to sign up for kiva.org yourself. I will then document and post my progress as I attempt to cash out the dollar portion of my earnings to donate (I will retain the steem power in my account, to help push future experiments like this one, and keep value within the community). With any luck, this post will literally change the world for one entrepenuer and their community, and we will prove that

Steemit IS changing the world RIGHT NOW.

The fact you didn't make a presentation doesn't make you appear trustworthy.

I think you should start making a presentation about you :) That usually gets well rewarded, expecially if you prove your identity for example with a picture of you and a paper with written "steemit" or something similar

Ok. Grand idea, thank you. Seeing as this post is currently 800℅ more valuable than any of my previous posts, I have decided to dedicate more time and effort towards generating enough from Steemit to make the minimum donation to kiva. You have inspired my follow-up post to open with a intro photo to breed trust, and more thoughts on the potential for Steemit to be much more than just a place to do your make up or post about yourself in the long run.

Thank you so much for the inspiration, I'll take a look at your current posts and see if I can relate to anything and send you some love.

1 hour and $6 value on the post. Thanks to the massive 7 person audience thus far! Woot!

you are up to $14. thats good enough, considering steem might double, so you have your $25 right now in the bag. congrats, and thank you for commenting on my post as well. Cheers!

Hmm I've looked at this whole page on my phone yet still don't see where I actually vote. I can see the 25 voters who did but can't do one myself

The up arrow next to the dollar value!!! Check out my new post https://steemit.com/steemit/@madillorama/i-steem-you-steem-we-all-steem-for

That's a nice post, thank you! I've been using Kiva for couple of years, and it really works! They money goes back to my account and I can relend it. Sometimes they also match a donation, which is pretty cool.

And we are also doing fundraising on Steemit:
