Which crypto should I be looking at?

in #investment7 years ago

So I've got roughly $50 worth of ETH I'm sitting on.

Now, I'm sure that ETH is going to go up. However, I believe that I'll see better growth out of one of the up and comers that are out there.

It's tempting to invest it into more Peerplays tokens and get some long term benefits, but there's the new-kid-on-the-block porn token PORND token, as well as many that I have no clue about.

So educate me Steem community. Where should I put my $50?

@scandinavianlife, please feel free to chime in here, as this is your wheelhouse.

I would say stay with the better known coins (top 100 market cap). Eth is a good investment but it is already quite big so if u are looking for a good turnaround i would try something that isnt so developed yet.
I personally have bought a lot of verge on speculation, i dont plan on holding it too long, but i picked it up a few months back for one cent each and i saw it as high as 24 cents before the correction.. it is sitting at 5-6 cents apeiece right now and i know as soon as this correction is over it will shoot back up to that 24 cents very easily.. im not saying its a great long term hold, but its a great one for huge swings. You could easily turn ur $50 into $200 by the end of the month. Then u could take some of those gains and put it on different coins and continue to build ur portfolio.. it will take way longer for eth to double.. i consider eth, btc and ltc as long term holds, not huge gainers but safe places to put ur money. Hope this helps. Make sure to do ur own research before buying any coins that are suggested to u!

honestly steem and sbd would have leveled out all of my gains. It’s been pretty steady through all the BS. It’s all a gamble cuz today it’s pumped and tomorrow could be dumped.

Actually, I would consider SBD to be the safe bet, with Steem being only slightly more risky (because of its current higher than average value). Of course, investing into Steem was my first instinct, but I don't think I'll see a lot of quick growth from it, which is what I'm looking for at the moment.

Another point about Steem. I would really like to be able to, one day, look upon my (hopefully) absurd amount of SP and say to myself "I built this. I put in the work, and built it all post by post, comment by comment."

just saw this post but a bit late i guess.. check out Linda coin, on cryptopia, it has always minimun 20btc in its 24 hour trade, and they are cheap as chips! or Mint, steady now at 10 satoshis!
50 bucks aint much.. but worth investing in small coins, that 50 bucks could be 500 by next year or ya "loose" the 50.. i personally like Linda as it has an adoptable name to all people even mothers and kids and old people lol, and its anom.

It's not really too late. Really it won't be too late until I have zero crypto.

Picking up some Linda would require me to eat an ETH fee though, since my trading account is on HitBTC.
I'll mull it over while I install these shower fixtures and get back to you (probably tomorrow evening).

Sounds like its best to get another 50 bucks from somewhere to cover costs lol
I realized that for most people they are limited to money that they can afford to loose, as for me I buy everthying I really need like tabacco and hash in bulk, so I go to work and have literally no overheads to stop me using the money I make,(just once a month to spend a sum of money on "overheads")but apart from that I dont see money as a useful thing as much as I used to. In my reality cash is best just to accuire, and convert into share in a company *ie, Crypto TOKENS or obviously smaller amounts on coins like linda, redd, and mint. What the fuck to do with money?!

I have a ton of other suggestions too, but I'll leave it at that because that's my favorite at the moment.I put some money into the Debitum ICO. I'm thinking about purchasing more next week after hearing about their partnership with PayPie. It's an ETH token so it would be easy for you to get in on. https://debitum.network

ETC.

That's tempting in the same way that Litecoin is with the Litecoin Cash announcement! Only cheaper!

I have to admit that Ether Classic would never have crossed my mind.

Also, if u sign up for bitshares exchange before feb 14th they are doing a free airdrop of btl (bitcoin latina) worth like $100 i think! It would be easy as shit to trade it into whatever coins u want! If u want i will give u a reference code to sign up with. That would give me a few extra tokens also 😉 let me know.. good luck on ur investments my friend..

Hi @jdc . Sorry I didn't answer when you posted. I don't get notified when someone tags me. Annoying!

I don't have much good advice for 50$ It's definitely a small sum, so I would put it in a very very small cap crypto with a good product and team. I'd do very good research and carefully pick one.

Or just power up steem.
