Pros of Degiro:
European, Asian and American exchanges in one platform with fees as little as 50 cent per trade with no yearly account fee or minimum deposit versus €10 - 30 with other brokers and yearly account fees on top of that.
All trades are executed by Citi and stocks are ringfenced so there’s no 3rd party risk. Also the Dutch government insures your account up to €20k.
Degiro also has a great app for your phone which makes investing in stocks effortless and you can keep also track of your upcoming dividends.
Cons of Degiro:
They do not offer fractional share buying like charles schwab (USA broker) offers which allow investors to buy .5 of a stock as opposed to a whole stock. However it is in the rumour mill that Degiro are working on bringing this feature.
To date I’m very happy with Degiro and have had some success, namely NVIDIA, Shopify and Facebook. I’v also had some losers 🙈 BOI, Snap and Blue Apron Holdings.
If you know anyone with a Degiro account ask them to refer you, you will both receive €20 off future transaction fees when you invest in stocks.
FYI: This is not financial advise and you should always do your own due diligence before investing money.
