Bitcoin’s price has shot up to the stratosphere over the past year, setting the media and internet with visions of Bitcoin toppling the current financial system. Despite this positive news Bitcoin still has a long way to go in order to be the #1 global currency.
As of last week, Bitcoin has finally breached the $3,000 mark, it wasn’t that long ago, we were talking about how Bitcoin surpassed the value of 1 oz. of gold.
Currently Bitcoin is worth approximately $43 billion USD in market capitalization. Which is a lot of money but when it comes to other assets, it really pales in comparison. Based on the chart, Gold’s total market cap is about $8.2 trillion USD or about 200 times the value of Bitcoin and physical money in circulation stands at $31 trillion USD.
Meanwhile all cryptocurrencies in existence, such as Steem, Ethereum, and Monero checks in at $100 billion USD. Just a little more than Bill Gate’s total net worth, who claims to be the richest man in the world.
This just goes to show you all, the growth potential for Bitcoin and all the other cryptocurrencies. How much do you think Bitcoin will be worth 1 year, 5 years, and 10 years down the line? Do you think another Cryptocurrency will surpass Bitcoin?
