The best cure for anxiety is action. Whenever I'm turning something over and over in my head with no resolution, the best remedy is usually to do SOMETHING about it. This usually results in one of the following:
- the problem is resolved, and I find there was nothing to worry about in the first place
- the problem remains, but the action has either changed the parameters of the problem or provided additional information that can make the "anxiety" a more productive mental exercise.
I bring this up because year-end is when I tend to make all the major reallocations to my personal finances. Mutual funds pay out capital gains and dividends, annual rental income totals come into focus, and bonuses are communicated, so it's time to take action.
This year has been a bit of an odd duck. I haven't become a crytpo millionaire, but I know people who have become crypto millionaires based on what I told them about the crypto markets. It's an unfortunate miss, but I'll get over it. I'm treating crypto assets like any other boring asset in my allocations, and I've spent the last week making the necessary adjustments.
But I want to do more.
This year I feel like I need to take MORE action to take advantage of MORE opportunities. But I remind myself that every time I've tried to chase unicorns, I end up losing both time and money. It's better to stick to what has worked.
Cash. Core. Explore. Maintain the ratios, rebalance when things get out of whack. And be patient.
If there's one thing I've learned in 17 years of managing my personal finances, it's that "nothing" is always the hardest thing to do.
Nothing is the hardest thing to do indeed. We are all born ignorant but one must put in much work to remain that way.
Very good love it
