My Introduction

in #introductions8 years ago (edited)

Hello fellow steemers! Feel silly saying that as it's day one, but as my first post stated, I am going to be making a real effort at getting active in this project/community even if it means falling on my face a lot. Let the fail begin!

Hi, my name is Cleveland. For years I have lived and earned my money online, but mostly it has been by NOT being in the spotlight. Started years ago when World of Warcraft was first released, and I discovered I could sell the gold in game for currency in the world. Was able to get through college doing just that. I would call that my first real encounter with cryptocurrency, since then have had several other games I have been able to make money off of providing a service to the players but it always required staying off the radar of the game developers.

Cryptocurrency, the real one not my game gold, is relatively new to me. My initial impression was the blockchain itself is a fantastic technology, but was honestly quite surprised the coins produced from them had a true value that translates into cash. I don't entirely understand steemit yet, lots to read and learn, but this is more what I figured the platform could, and should be. decentralized - yes, has a real world value - yes, produced by a minority with a cash investment.... well no. Something that is able to generate revenue and all it really asks is that you put YOURSELF into it? Amazing!

I am used to hiding in the shadows and dealing on the outskirts. I don'e expect to make my living from here, but I fully support this platform and will be active in it. Time to come into the light.

Trying to add a verification pic as I see others do it to verify person..... don't make it easy :)

Last edit to include a terrible verification photo that doesn't even show the entire date lol

That's amazing that you were able to put yourself through college selling WoW gold!

Pretty crazy I know. Last two years was even weirder, selling potions in an iPhone app to other players lol

That's insane. I guess if you get proficient at gathering highly sought after items, there will always be someone who would rather pay to win.
