Hello everyone. My name is Ryan and I am new to Steemit.
I am a passionate writer and teacher, and I am so excited to have found this wonderful platform on which to meet like-minded people, and share some of the products of my own creative endeavours, while engaging with people who have similar goals, and hopefully, all the while enjoying the added bonus of some economic reward for my contribution.
Although, I am originally from Australia, I currently live in Hangzhou, China, where I work as an English teacher and try with questionable success to learn the Chinese language. I suspect that many, if not, most people will not know about this city where I am abiding, aside from a minority who either have some relationship with mainland China, or heard about it in relation to playing host to the G20 summit in September 2016. This my not be of any particular concern to many of you, but I do hope it can account for the way in which I am bound to give things a Chinese flavour at times.
I will be discussing a range of topics in my posts. These will be based not solely on my own interests, which include language, travel, and politics, but also on my own judgements about just what are the important issues and events during a period of time that, to many of us, represents a dramatic shift in paradigms.
I also LOVE to travel. Luckily, my line of work makes frequent travel possible, and I hope to share some of these experiences with you. These posts are not likely to be fitting with typical travel blogs, and I hope that will not disappoint.
Lastly, I have no doubt that many people here are also passionate about, or know something about cryptocurrencies, blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies. Unfortunately, I cant claim to be an expert in programming, or any other discipline related to computer science. However, I will be an active learner in this space and on these topics, and I will also be actively involved in discussion about things concerning crypto on which I can make a valuable contribution too, once I am sufficiently informed.
Im not sure what the future holds for everyone, and least of all, myself, but I am happy to be here with all of you, at least for the time-being, while I have the time and motivation to dedicate to this community.
Welcome to Steemit!
You're doing a great job by introducing yourself here so keep it up. Looking forward to seeing more of your travel blogs. =)
Welcome to the steemit community.
Wellcome :)
thank you :)
What was your reason behind going to China to teach English? It's an awesome thing, but going to a country with such a different language and culture for a very long time is probably something I couldn't do.
Im not really sure how to answer the question in a way that would satisfy you. Many people dont seem to understand how someone can want to spend time in a place so different. There are many reasons I came, but perhaps the most telling was that I get comparatively well-paid work very easily here in China, and that has proven convenient at some moments when I have been travelling on a shoestring in Asia have ended up in need. A more interesting answer to your question, and why I have spent more time in China, beyond my original intentions, is precisely because it is so different. I love the constant opportunities to learn, and grow. Actually, I like Chinese food and girls too. Language education, namely English, is my primary field of work, and I am still learning and growing in this career too. China is a nice place to do this. Sorry just so many ways to answer your question. There probably isnt any way for you to know personally, yourself, until you give it a try. If you did it for even a very short time, that might be enough to be sure that a long term stay is not for you. I do recommend everyone give it a try. China is certainly an amazing country, well worth a look.
Thanks for the interesting reply! China is certainly a kind of mysterious country for a lot of people (me included).

Welcome! It seems like you have a wealth of experiences and awesome interests. I am certain you will find like-minded individuals on Steem. Cryptocurrency can be a tough thing to wrap your head around; however, there are a lot of people here who would be willing to help and on Youtube as well. You will pick up a lot of new things here, looking forward to your content. Enjoy
Thanks for the very kind words. I hope you are right about all your forecasts. Crypto is definitely something on which I have recently gained a very keen interest. I follow a few YouTube channels already, and that is how I cam e to find out about Steemit. I get the feeling there is such much to learn, but so many opportunities as well. I am so excited to get involved in the industry in some way. If you have any channels or interesting personalities to recommend, I would like to hear about them. I am a YouTube native for sure. Thanks.
saludos amigo, bienvenido a esta familia, te doy mi voto de apoyo y desde ahora te sigo, te invito a seguirme, saludos
Welcome to Steemit! I think you’ll enjoy the platform and you have a lot to offer. At this point, most who are “experts” in the crypto world speak an almost foreign language so I love the idea of sharing as you learn. Looking forward to your new posts :)
Welcome to steemit !!

An upvote for a passionate English teacher. Welcome to Steemit @ryanwb! I taught English for some time, too.
I really hope you stay long on Steemit. I can tell you have much to contribute to this community.
Thank you very much. I have met so many wonderful people that have taught at some stage, even if that was only for a short time, and I think people that are that way inclined have a lot of passion, and a lot to share, in general. I will be sure to check out what you are up to as well. I also appreciate the vote of confidence. I really look forward to getting involved.
