Who Longs for a New and Improved Society

in #introduction7 years ago (edited)

I have been thinking about what I would write about here, and I guess it would have to be what I am most passionate about; a new society.

Doesn't it seem we are long overdue for a societal change? I know it does to me. I long for a society that makes sense; that works for all, rather than a hierarchy that preys upon the people.

That's why I am so drawn to blockchain technology, it gives me hope. Like, hearing that Estonia has embraced the blockchain; everything from their government to medical records to simple things like their driver's license records are on the blockchain. They don't have to deal with long lines at the DMV, or even standing in line to vote! They just log on, click a button and done! Can you imagine the simplicity?

Also, and most importantly, there is no room for corruption. Everything on the blockhain is public: No secret deals, no black budgets, none, zilch.

I read, and I wish I could find the article to post for you, but I can't, that a professor from Estonia was in the US, temporarily teaching at Stanford, and he had to go to a DMV for whatever reason, and he said something in response to his experience, like, 'America is stuck in 1950 technology.' He's so right. We are. We are still, to this day, filling out papers at the doctor's office and inputting redundant information to apply for a job on a website.

So, yeah, I am ready for change, starting with our old government officials who can't even turn on a smart phone. And not because they can't try to figure it out, but because, and this is what is so dangerous to our future, anything new scares them. (And I am old myself, so I can things like this.)

I will also post short stories and relevant info on the publishing world. I am an author and my recent work is Land of Tornadoes, it's a modern Grapes of Wrath meets Mr. Robot with a splash, and I emphasize splash, of The Walking Dead. Read more on my site: www.melanieswolfe.com Lately, I have been interested in stories that deal with social injustice and cultural criticisms, so if you are into that, you will want to check it out.

So, that's my introduction. I'm still learning my way around here, so bear with me.

Let's connect on other social media. I follow back (as long as you aren't rudely annoying, selling photos of twats, obsessed with political drama that gets us know where, anti-kind, anti-people in general or hate cute, giant pigs dressed in pajamas). :-) Find me on Twitter @melanieswolfe and LinkedIn under the same name.

To a better world

Agree wholeheartedly. I would live to see society with a more inclusive and collaborative approach. I also am hoping to use steemit as a platform to give people information that can uplift and decrease the fear that occurs in everyday life. My particular passion is medicine and trying to counter all the negative information that is being put out in traditional media.

That's awesome! I look forward to following you.
