Make Way for the New(ish) Arrival!

in #introduction7 years ago (edited)

Hi everyone!

.....or is it Greetings and Salutations?......

Either way it goes, it is very exciting to finally be a part of the Steem movement. I have been waiting for an opportunity like this to come along, and I want to make the best of it.

So, without further ado, let's begin.....

My name is Dennis, and I hail from the United States. I have a rather storied history, with some very colorful occurrences here and there. I am very sure that over time, I will write them all down here. I am an avid outdoorsman, so I can usually be found somewhere outside, walking in the woods, working on my land, or just soaking up the sunshine in the yard. I recently (in the last 3 months) purchased my home, which included 8.25 acres in an extremely rural area next to a national forest. It's like having a 90,000 acres backyard! I can't begin to tell you how awesome that feels. With the exception of a few random, strange noises at night, its one of the most peaceful and serene environments anyone could ask for. (At least I think so!)

I live with my dog, Miss, who is a 26-pound, black and white Border Collie Mix with a penchant for chasing down ANYTHING smaller than she is. Even though she's pushing 12 years old, she still has the energy of a puppy, so running, jumping, chasing, exploring, and the occassional nap are definitely her forte. The story about her is one I find to be kind of interesting, so I am going to save it for another post.

As with many people, I have goals that I aspire to achieve within the next few years. And, like many people, one of them involves getting my own company off the ground. I have had a number of years to decide where I wanted to lay down roots and make a home, which has had a rather negative impact on me taking the opportunity to get something started. Now that I have a home.....GAME ON!

Since I am an outdoors type, I have spent the last few years perfecting a few techniques for outdoor life. A very pleasant side effect of this has been developing a sense of not only the things one might need to "rough it", but the skills that need to accompany those items for proper use. What good is a shiny new tool if you don't know how to use it, right? Along the way, we will explore different ideas and options to help anyone interested in developing themselves, making backup plans, etc. Objectivity is crucial when examining these ideas, so suggestions and questions are always welcome.

I truly believe in self-reliance, preparedness, and attention to detail. All three of these play into each other, creating an environment that allows anyone desiring to be self sufficient to be successful rather quickly. There will be a great number of posts in the future that will touch on these subjects and many things connected to them, so check them out whenever they come round! One very prominent trait you will come to notice about my posts is that there will not be a set pattern for the topics being discussed. Variety keeps things interesting, and from one day to the next thoughts and feelings will shift, sometimes drastically. I will not always know where the days will take me, so I leave it open for life to happen and give me something to enjoy or learn from.

Once again, it is VERY exciting to be finally be involved in the Steem community. It's going to be quite the adventure learning how to create more and more excitement with each post, hopefully drawing others into the community as well!

I will bring this, my first Steem story, to a close here. There is much more to my story, and I look forward to sharing it with everyone!

Take care for now, and Yah Bless!
