Hey guys!
We are womp a 3d printing studio founded by artists and designers that empowers anyone to explore 3d printing by providing easy, affordable and fast 3d content creation and 3d printing services for anyone and everyone. We heard about steemit from @hansikhouse and @voronoi and joined now joined the amazing @Sndbox incubator to learn more about this fascinating movement.
Our name "Womp" came from what I perceived to be the sound that the machines make when they go back and forth laying material down, "womp.... womp .....womp.... womp....." I come from Ecuador in South America where we incorporate many onomatopeic words in our Spanish, womp was my interpretation of what the onomatopea for the action of 3d printing would be.

We work out of a warehouse in Brooklyn NY where we have a bunch of machines womping away. We have a a couple of really special 3d printers we are really excited about, like our giant Bigrep and the Connex500 that can print the most amazing things, even clear or flexible material and one thing inside another.
We are still a small team, but we are all women and we work hard to break the stereotypes of women in manufacturing. We have a strong belief that good design is the key part for 3D printing and manufacturing.
We're excited to be on Steemit finally and posting with the @sndbox team! Stay tuned for our future posts on modeling and making. =)

Welcome to Steemit! I was wondering if it is possible to recycle PET bottles into print material? I'm asking cause I've been saving up bottles due to a documentary project I'm working on.
Yes! you can recycle PET bottles into filament. You'll have to clean them, shred them and put them through a filament extruder. Somehow the hardest part of the equation is finding a grinder? which seems crazy, but it's true. There are plenty of filament making machines including filaextruder, filamaker, but the shredder, at least one that is not hand cranked is always the challenge in doing recycled filament!!
