SAY HI TO TRI: AN INTRODUCTORY BLOG

What's up, Hive? It's @trigonometrayz_, and I go by the nickname "Tri," which is read the same way as the word "try." I am the eldest of three girls and an incoming grade 11 STEM student. Below is a glimpse of my life as a person, student, and a daughter.

I come from a family that dreams big. Despite my parents not being able to finish off their degree, they hope for us to get a tight grip on our dream courses, no matter how hard it may be. As the eldest daughter, I get to manage myself to take responsibility for being a role model to my sisters, despite having a love-hate relationship with them. All along the way, I disciplined myself to be hands-on with cleaning, laundrying, watching over my sisters, helping my mother cook, and many other house chores.

Growing up, I spent a lot of fun times with my cousins, due to the intimate relationship that I have with both sides of my family. Whenever I am with them, I always feel seen and validated. We also love to travel as a complete family on the father's side, with both my lola and lolo present. We enjoy visiting different places to experience different activities, meet new people, and appreciate the beauty of our country. We have already been to Bantayan Island, Camotes Island, Bohol, Siquijor, Dumaguete, and other places I cannot quite remember anymore.

— Study, study, study —

One of the many things I am passionate about is studying, because I have always enjoyed learning. As a student, I give my best to every project, activity, and homework given. I grew up being a consistent top student during my elementary days and even during my junior high school journey. My motivation that has been driving me is my goal of becoming a successful medical practitioner one day.

In addition to that, experiences and opportunities have been the things that I look forward to every school year. For the past years, I have participated in school-level activities like GSP encampment, English festival, and Science Quiz Bowl, as well as divisional and regional-level competitions like DSTF, DFOT, DSPC, and RFOT. There were wins and losses; however, every single thing has been a stepping stone for me. Lapses and mistakes were acknowledged, lessons were learned, improvements were made, and the experience was treasured.

On the other hand, having been exposed to leadership as a student has contributed so much to my development as a person and as a youth in our community. Back in the six-year round of my elementary journey, I was elected as the class president of our batch from first grade until the sixth grade, and I have also been an SPG president of our school. In high school, I got elected as an officer of our Sci-Math Club and the Senior Cadet Planning Board of the GSP. Recently, I have been actively engaging in youth activities in our barangay.

I like to admire the sky. Sunrises give me hope, and sunsets tell me that things can end beautifully. The moon and the stars remind me of the quote that keeps me going: "If stars can shine with darkness, so can you." Another thing is nature, which keeps me at ease. Whenever I feel mentally exhausted, I always try to fill my vision with the green scenery around me.

Keeping a positive outlook in life is hard, but I do it with God. God has always been with me through ups and downs, providing me with the amount of love and care that is sufficient for me. I learned how to trust and hope in him and to let him lead my way because life is full of uncertainties. I surrendered my worries, headaches, pain, and struggles to him because I did not have to burden myself with them when I had him. He has been with me every step of the way, from the day that I was not yet even born up until this moment that I am starting my blogging journey.

— Here are the few things I enjoy to do during my free time and even on busy days:

Firstly, reading. It has always been one of the best things I love to do. I started with reading fictional stories on Facebook and Pinterest and alternative universe stories' on TikTok and Twitter. When a friend of mine introduced Wattpad, I became fond of it. And as a young girl who wonders a lot about the vastness of the concept of life, I wanted stories that could get me a glimpse of reality through the characters' lenses, which made me love Dosage of Serotonin by @Inksteady and the University Series by @4reuminct. As the years continue to pass, I've learned about ebooks as well. I have read and admired Japanese books like Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi and Sweat Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa. Novels that approach mental illnesses, like Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow and Su–cide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford, and psychological thriller books like The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, have also piqued my interest in human psychology.

Secondly, I love to listen to music. "Music is free therapy." We hear this line almost everywhere, and I could attest to this. Whether I am in despair, in so much joy, feeling energized, or unmotivated, I always find the best music to match my mood. Music always has this ability to penetrate through my soul and touch my wholeness. A few of the many artists that I like listening to are Noah Kahan, NIKI, Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, Boygenius, Novo Amor, The 1975, BLACKPINK, Maki, and BINI.

Thirdly, I enjoy watching random genres of movies and series. Similar to reading, watching movies opens up new perspectives for me. It has allowed me to witness struggles, pain, happiness, and love with my own eyes. A few of my favorite movies are The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Little Women.

Additionally, I learned to appreciate writing. Reading a lot of remarkable masterpieces has inspired me to work on processing my thoughts and converting them to words. Although I am not that enhanced in writing, I continue to expose myself to activities that would help me improve, and I believe that being this young gives me the advantage of still having a lot to learn.

Two of the amazing people I look up to have introduced me to HIVE. @iamcheerfellll invited me to join the orientation, which was led by @callmesmile , and I couldn't be more grateful to God for the opportunities and people he has provided me with.

I want to start a fresh journey here to enhance my passion for writing and to share stories of my life that I get to write in this long run of never-ending tomorrows, which can be about travels, activities I participate in, my student journey, family gatherings, and random but crucial happenings in my daily life. I am hopeful that this will become a gateway for me to learn more about writing, sharing, being engaged, and, most importantly, about life, as well as to meet new friends and create new bonds.

I am as excited to witness your different stories packed with different learnings as I want to share amazing moments of my life with each and every one of you. I am open to learning and improving myself with your help every step of the way. May God bless us more!
