So much of what you wrote resonates with me, Casper! I'm mom to three adults (all in their 20s and still living at home, especially since two face health challenges) and will celebrate 32 years of wedded madness bliss next month with my husband.

As far as the writing thing goes - there's a verse of the song Breathe (2 AM) by Anna Nalick that gives me chill bumps every time I hear it...

Two am, and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer
Inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd

Substitute "story/idea/poem/blog/reply" for "song" and that's me. Most of it still sits, gathering dust on my hard drive & various notebooks (the paper kind, as I'm a bit old school...lol), but one of these days I'll follow your lead and start growing my audience & readers again.
