Hello from a tech lover and crypto enthusiast

Hello everyone!

So here it is, my obligatory introduction to this community. I am regularly informing myself about the latest news in crypto world and oh dear are the news coming fast these days. Long story short I stumbled about this interesting project and as a good opportunity to train my rusty English skills I wanted to give it a try!

My name is Thomas and I am from Germany, I am a positive human who thinks that technology will advance humanity and bring forth new possibilities for our society. To make things clear I was born in 1986 so the internet really started to go through the roof when I was about 12 or 13 years old. I remember when I begged my parents to get this new "thing" the internet. It was a dial-up modem at these times and we had to pay by minute. I soon found online communities these times for online gaming and (you guessed it) Pokémon. This new world really impressed me: you could talk to people and there was always something going on, in the night at the day 24/7 basically. There was no Facebook nor MySpace (at least I didn't know). We used search engines like Alta Vista, Lycos or Fireball. The anonymity of these times was kind of advantageous: you could be whoever you wanted and the people would judge you not by your age, gender or view. Only your words was what mattered. I loved these times.

What happened?

With the advance of Facebook, or here in Germany StudiVZ the anonymity went away. People started to market themselves more then ever, Youtube and Instagram marched forward and a whole new market for so called influencers was created.  I for myself believes that made things worse. The need to self marketing your character influenced a lot of people and drove  superficiality to a new level. Your "online" identity was more important then ever. At the same time your data and identity could be controlled by the big players like Facebook, Google or the other big players in social networks. The small communities like the forums or the IRC chats I know went away and dried out. Which I thought was kinda sad. Concentrating so much money, power and influence in the hands of a single few corporations worries me.

A new dawn!

But there is hope! A few years ago in 2008 a paper was published. The paper about Bitcoin (I actually saw it quite around this time for the first time). I was not totally convinced by it and didn't dig further into it... oh what a shame!

Now I think with the decentralizing capabilities of these system all the disadvantages from the centralized services could go away. I am convinced that this technology would be able to "reboot" the internet. To restart it in a way as it was originally meant to be. It is really exciting for me to see all these interesting projects popping up like in now time as they were like when the internet originally started. It is yet the same, I kinda feel like this is again the wild wild west with the frontiers being pushed every new day. Maybe now the people will be given again the power over their data, their content in a real decentralized fashion. But this time I want to be in the forefront of this development. With technology surrounding us every day from mobile phones to smart homes we are dependent then ever of a resilient, working and secure devices. A requirement which can be provided by blockchain technology.

Me myself and I

Despite all of that I think that the Internet has such a huge impact to humanity like the advent of book printing! It kickstarted new economics, new markets and whole new social constructs. I decided that I wanted to be a part of this development. I started to code and got interested in tech. I keep up with all the news and studied physics and computer science. Now I work as a programmer and keep myself informed about all hot new topics. When I am not coding, building a automated home, working on IoT devices and doing photography I am helping out creating movies (Beyond the Bridge) or participating in a live stream format once in a month (Storynights TV, its about Pen & Paper roleplay).

That are the topics to be expected from me. I have a very high entitlement to quality so I hope you will like my postings and find them informative and/or interesting. Yet I will post about my self made lighting IoT devices controlled by Arduinos which will be implemented soon between the years.

Leave me a comment and ask questions as I would like to get in touch with you, or just follow me if you are already convinced (which you most probably are not, but that is totally okay!)
