I am a physicist searching for a new fundamental particle: the Madala boson!

I was drawn to Steemit after reading a post made by the user @lemouth. In the post, @lemouth gives a description and an objective impression of a wild claim made by some physicists from Johannesburg, that a new elementary particle could be hiding in the data from the Large Hadron Colldier: the Madala boson! My name is Stefan von Buddenbrock, and I am one of those physicists...

2018 will be the last year of me doing a PhD in particle physics at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. I will soon have to compile all of my research and write a thesis about the so-called "Madala hypothesis". In the hypothesis we claim that a new particle could already be seen in the most recent LHC data, if we study certain properties of the Higgs boson. At the time of writing, I believe that the Madala boson will be discovered at the LHC potentially within the next year or two (it has not been discovered yet; it is still hypothetical).

This is my first Steemit post, and I will be dedicating some of my time to writing blogs about why some of us believe the Madala boson exists. I will try and be as clear and simple as possible, so that any science-enthusiast can learn something and make meaningful comments. If you are interested in the fate of this research, I urge you to follow my journey and interact with my posts, since this kind of criticism is exactly how science makes progress. If we do end up discovering the Madala boson, you can be part of it! If not, at least you can learn from some of the physics and mathematics that I will try explain ;)

TL;DR -- I believe that we will soon discover a new particle at the LHC. Follow my journey as I blog about my research towards the discovery!

p.s. @lemouth, if you are reading this: I am incredibly impressed by your involvement with @SteemSTEM and trying to bring good science to the platform. Bravo!

Welcome to steemit :) As a scientist you have found everything you need with @steemstem! Still gonna resteem you for some visibility! Greets!

Greetings! That’s for the resteem!

Hi Stefan,

Glad that you are here on Steemit! The more scientists we are, the best it is :)

Just to trigger the discussion: I honestly have several concerns with the last (maybe I have missed some update in the meantime) Madala boson analysis that you wrote. The reason is that the analysis includes all channels where there is some tension, but not all the other channels potentially sensitive to the boson where the Standard Model fully agrees with data. I am looking forward to an update of your paper where you reinterpret more BSM searches than just those showing tension.

I hope something will be discovered at the LHC, but I don't think this will be a Madala. My opinion here :)

Cheers, and maybe see you in June (I will lecture at ASP-2018 in Windhoek)

PS: don;'t hesitate to come to discord to say hi :)

Thanks, I hope I can contribute towards the growing community! :)

I understand the concerns about the work, and many of them came perhaps from a premature press release (which I had nothing to do with). There is usually a concern with other SM observables which could potentially exclude the Madala boson, and trying to find them is quite a huge task! Hopefully some tools like Gambit and CheckMATE can help us there... I will cover this in a blog when I get around to that work.

All the best in Windhoek, I’ll see if I can make it!

Hopefully some tools like Gambit and CheckMATE can help us there

There are other tools as well (like MadAnalysis 5)... I also have a concerns with respect to Gambit ;)

You'll learn a lot here. Welcome :)

So looking forward to your posts :D great to have you here :)

Welcome aboard the Steemtrain! I'm very interested in this topic, and I'll be watching my feed for boson updates.

Followed and Resteemed. :)

Welcome to your steemit brother, we are very happy to join you with us. please full me and I will come back again. and do not forget to make the next post.

Welcome, you earn my follow

I want to be you friends,
Follow me...!!!! @milenia

Welcome! Nice to have you!

Welcome to the amazing Steemit family. Here we grow together at an enormous speed. People are so friendly and receptive here. Good luck.
