I have similar experiences with starting a blog that got no love, you can't deny the advantages of the network effect that sites like Medium and Steemit give you.

Best of all on Steemit you are rewarded for posting!

Good luck and I hope you get your macro lens, as a hobby photography can be quite expensive!
