Hæ guys - this is my #introduceyourself.

Dear whoever is reading this, hæ! That is (surprisingly) Icelandic for "hi". This is my first post on this platform so naturally, I would like to introduce myself to you, fellow Steemians.

My name is Romy and I'm a Dutch 20 year old currently living in Reykjavík, Iceland. I'm actually going home in less than two weeks but there will be enough writing about Iceland on here... soon!

Anyway, I am a Literary Studies (Literary and Cultural Analysis) student at the University of Amsterdam and currently studying Icelandic & Comparative Cultural Studies at Háskóli Íslands (University of Iceland) for one semester. However, in less than two weeks I will be flying home for Christmas. In January, I plan on moving to Rotterdam (The Netherlands) for an internship.

I'm a writer, editor, intersectional feminist and literary scholar to be.

This is me being extremely happy about the colour coordinated books in an adorable messy bookshop in Reykjavík. Today I actually bought a copy of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan for only 3 dollars here, great day.

On top of that I'm a huge metalcore enthusiast and I band managed a Dutch metalcore band for two years. This is their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/NDVRBand/, and they actually released their first single today! It's called "Divided" and here's the YouTube link if you think you can handle some metalcore:

Some other random facts about me that might be interesting to some of you:

  1. I am obsessed with animals.
  2. And recently became a vegetarian for that very reason.
  3. I have been in a relationship for a few months now.
  4. I buy many, many books but never actually get around reading all of them.
  5. My favorite Holiday is Christmas so I am currently in a state of pure excitement.
  6. Although I don't own a Christmas sweater... yet.
  7. Recently someone told me I looked like a writer. That was one of the greatest compliments I've ever received.
  8. My parents have been separated forever.
  9. I moved to Amsterdam when I was 18.
  10. Double espresso's keep me going.

As you can probably tell from this miserable blog post, I'm not very good at talking about myself. But, I'm sure a lot of you have experienced this problem. On this blog, however, I will most likely reflect on my past experiences (Iceland!), post some of my writing and explore all kinds of different ways to express myself. And, of course, feel free to ask anything I've failed to include in this #introduceyourself post.

Takk, bæ bæ!

Welcome to Steemit!

Sorting books by color is some proper anarchy.

Hello Romy!

I'm new myself and also have high hopes for this site.

I figure it's only a matter of time until people start awakening to the wonderful new concept Steemit brings you.

Be happy, best wishes and stay warm (Iceland must be cold) :p

Hi @spiritualmax, Iceland is very cold indeed but I love the cold so much. I am interested in seeing what this website will bring me, thank you very much and welcome to you, too.

Wow Iceland! Wild! Welcome to The Steemit!!

Iceland is extremely wild! Haha, thank you. :-)

Hi @romyroomans

Welcome to Steemit. I'm pretty new also.

So what do you think makes someone "look like a writer?" is it the glasses? or the frequency of holding a cup of coffee? From the one picture you posted I see a writer...but it might be because you're surrounded by books and smiling.

Anyways, I like to write also. If you have some time check out my blog, right now I only have a few poems on it but I'd like to know what you think. @pltorres

I'll follow you and I'll let you know what I think when you post some of your writings.

Hi @pltorres! Haha, I guess it's the way I dress combined with my glasses, I'm not sure to be honest! I have followed your blog, it looks lovely. I will definitely check out your writing. Thanks!

welcome here wish you have a good time

Thank you so much!
