RE: Greetings from Detroit

Hey @robrigo, Detroit such a great city! Welcome to Steemit!
I've visited your city once, a couple of years ago during one of the 'Detroit Electronic Movement Festivals' (I think it has a different name nowadays'. At Heart Plaza... I found Detroit so bizarre: the torn down city center (this was around 2004 I think), and the vast flatlans around it... To me it felt so weird to ride this monotrain and then smoke a J with police at 200 meters... Seeing Canada across the river and then driving near 8 mile road (Eminem), sitting in a bar with the girl from Seven Nations Army...

I went a couple of times to the cellar of the Oslo Sushi Bar, had you been there? I think it's closed now...

Anyhow, again, welcome to Steemit!

Ps. I've also written my introduction, would you like to read it?

Hi @roelandp, nice to meet you. They call the festival Movement now that it isn't sponsored by the city. It's still the same quality of music, but privatized and capitalized upon. I actually wrote about that in the Nullstreet Journal vol. IV, pg 22, back in the BTS days. I was trying to make some connections with local artists regarding Peertracks. (Aside: does anyone know the status of this project?)

The cops literally do not give a shit about weed here. It's decriminalized. I used to live by Oslo sushi, it's a whisky bar now. One thing I really love about this city is its diversity. There are a lot of cultural neighborhoods representing their traditions and values spread all throughout the city.

Detroit is constantly morphing and has come along way since 2004. There are still plenty of marginalized areas, but new developments as well. It's an interesting time to be here.
