RE: Announcing NFT Showroom: Collectible, Scarce, Tokenized Art on Hive

in #introduceyourself4 years ago (edited)

I don't really understand the mechanics of this, so this might be a silly question, but what's stopping someone (who's bought a piece of art) from copying it and then selling the copy? Is there any way to distinguish between the original and a copy?

Sort:

Thats a great question, in theory people could copy art and sell the copy, but most of the reputable platforms verify artists heavily before allowing them to tokenize (such as superrare, knownorigin, etc.) some of the more open ones such as rarible require the buyer to DYOR (do your own research) before purchasing as it is more decentralized but they have just included a verified system as well. There will probably always be a level of curation when it comes to art buying and selling because people want to support the original artist and take quite a lot of care when making purchases to make sure it's the real deal :) If there is any dispute as to who created the token first it can be easily verified on the blockchain or through other means if they have stolen a non-tokenized work.

At NFT Showroom we are verifying artists before they are allowed to tokenize.

NFT token is unique and when is incorporated into an art/whatever also the asset is unique, so you know that's art an original.

How is it "incorporated into an art"?

Well, I don't know exactly technology, but if you read about NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-fungible_token or here https://cointelegraph.com/news/nonfungible-tokens-could-change-the-way-we-own-things you can make a picture what it's all about...

It would be added in the picture you are selling I think. My 5 minutes in here gave me the idea that is all about digital art. So the titty art of a girlfriend can't be tokenised the breasts with paint on a cloth can't be digitised. I think.... I'm just waking up.. So forgive me for giving the wrong info... if it's wrong... But if It's right it would be right... if someone wants a titty art piece give me a tell I will give her a tell... 200 euro a painting 870hive. I believe.
