THE DREAMER

---

Right here on this site, it is my pleasure to introduce myself; I am Realbert Fuentes Pielago, was born and raised in Tabogon, Cebu. When I was young, my dream profession was to become a practicing doctor, a medical doctor specializing in general surgery But, after knowing how expensive the course was, I just laughed and told myself that “maybe not now, but someday." Hahahaha.

Anyway, if you want to know why I always wanted to become a physician, it’s because death due to health issues is so sad. God knows how we hate that, right?

So, after I graduated high school, I just continued breathing, planning what to do next. So, I went along with my former classmates and applied for a scholarship at different universities in Cebu City.

And look how good the timing was! At that moment, I felt God never hated me as much as I thought because he granted my request. He let me pass into Southwestern University; the benefits are a financial allowance and free tuition. The school is located in the heart of Cebu City.

I can still remember the time when I first successfully enrolled in my subjects; that was April 2008; I received a call from someone informing me that my father had died. What a massive Earth! I did not know what to do; I just lost myself for a moment. Shocks! Anyway, let’s stop this topic because my tears silently flowed down my fatty and floppy face. (Lol)

Description of my personality, talent, and skills

Sometimes, I ask myself, “What group of animals do I belong to?” Indeed, I am the kind of man with no talent- a master of none- who goes with the flow in life. Talking about talent, if eating is included, then I am proud to have one. I can’t identify the unique aspects of my hobbies; sometimes, I feel obliged to be so imaginative.

But anyway, I usually spend my free time reading novels, books, or comic magazines, playing online games, and listening to music. It depends on my mood, but I hate studying or reading some academic subjects.

I do not know how big my right brain is or what it looks like because my way of thinking dominates everything with no room for logical and critical thinking; maybe the left side of my brain moved to the outer part.

I have a great sense of humor; I am easily attracted to funny people and love cracking jokes. When it's my turn to do that, I’m going to make sure that my words cannot hurt or insult someone because it is not easy to be bullied; I cannot deny the fact that if my friend or someone else throws personal jokes at me, I feel so bad and I get hurt. My close friends can attest to the fact that I am sensitive, softhearted, and calm.

There were moments when people abused my kindness, and I let that happen because sympathy is part of my inner self. I am an open-minded, caring, and clingy person. I respect others, and I am respected in return. I am so careful with my actions and words because I strongly believe in karma. It is just so lovely to have a feeling of being respected. I think I am a responsible person, and with self-discipline, I could not be where I am today if not for those two characteristics.

I am not used to going to church every Sunday, but I firmly believe in God. I am afraid of him, and my trust in him is as solid as a rock. I thought that it was not religion but our faith that could save us. I respect all religions because faith is the only thing that matters. In sports, I have not been inclined to any outdoor activity; I used to play badminton, basketball, volleyball, and some Pinoy games before, but that was during my elementary school days.

A Glimpse of my past

In 2004, our mother decided to work in the city, so she left us for the first time to look for a job. After a month, when she found the job, she decided to fetch us from the province and continue our studies in Mandaue City. So, we transferred right away. I felt it so hard to adjust and get along with my classmates; I did not even know how to read comprehensively or solve math problems correctly. I'm always behind in class and have almost failed every subject. I am so pitiful and poor.

So then, my mother informed me that I must take and pass the entrance exam to enroll in the nearest public secondary school. She always reminded me that I needed to pass it because she could not afford to send me to another distant public school due to a lack of resources. It required enough budget for daily allowances for food, and we almost had nothing to eat.

When I saw my mother and her friends selling candles on the feast day of Berhin sa Regla, or Our Lady of the Rule Church, I felt so down and pitied her. She doubled her work to provide for our needs. So, after that moment, I sacrificed so much for my studies. I passed the entrance exam, and I never stopped studying until I realized that I was part of the achievers. When I reached the third year of high school, I started to look for a simple job that could be earned so that, in my little way, I could help my mother with our daily basic needs.

Who I am today

After graduating high school, I was so curious about what college looked like, what was in it, and why only rich people could afford that level. I just knew that to get a better job, we needed to finish a degree or course. And because of that, I am so eager to continue my studies. So, when a group of my classmates plan to apply for scholarships at different universities, I never hesitate to go along with them. wish granted, and I am so grateful for the best opportunity that God has given me.

With my utmost determination, perseverance, and hard work, I was able to conquer my fear and successfully finish my bachelor's degree. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with a major in Management. I continued my Advanced in Education at Cebu Technological University and completed my Professional Education units to take the board for teachers. Luckily, I was able to pass the exam.

My first job was as an account relations assistant at Smart Communications, and after three years of service, I resigned. Then I was hired by Southwestern University as an accounting officer, and three years later, I quit because I was engaged in the government office as an administrative assistant- senior bookkeeper under the Department of Education. After almost four years of my service, I was promoted and hired as a school public teacher.
