Yo! I am Rafa de Zelanda! Traveler, poet, ukelele rockstar, PhD student, tropical fruit lover...

Allow myself to introduce... myself.

I am Rafa de Zelanda- basically my life so far has been a series of adventures with never a penny to my name. I have been to more than 40 countries and lived in several of them (Australia, New Zealand, Guatemala, Canada, Spain, Ireland). I just kept going for what I liked and following the opportunities that came up, without money or a plan. So far it's working out alright ;)

Joined the Guatemalan army for a day- (they gave me a rifle!) and Racing toads in Australia

My youth was in New Zealand where I was madly into playing music and acting. I played the bass guitar in jazz and rock bands. And generally showed off on stage, with or without clothes.

Rock'n roll show-off in the year 2000! (I am the kid with the red bass guitar) and modeling (like my "blue steel" look?)

Then I got really seriously into Buddhadharma (aka Buddhism) so I studied with Buddhist masters going wherever I had to to find them (best place is Canada). I also spent months at a time in meditation retreat practicing what I was taught. Basically just me in a hut in the forest sitting on my bum all day for months at a time. (Obviously no talking to people, using phones or writing on Steemit).
At some point I really loosened up. I just wanted to travel, have adventures and meet amazing women. I did!!!

With beautiful girls and a beautiful moustache!

Having hit my thirties I seem to have gotten serious again. I'm finishing my PhD in chemical engineering. How heavy is that?! But then again I live 10 minutes walk from the beach in Spain, so maybe it's not so heavy after all ;)

At work... and at play in Spain

Anyway, so what I really like is nature and travel, stand-up comedy (usually watching but about to try my first stand-up show as a performer), and I am excited about the future of blockchain technologies. Oh, and I love tropical fruits ;)

Life is so exquisitely gorgeous, messed up and mad. I am thrilled to be alive!!!

hola @rafadezelanda bienvenido a Steemit, buen post, te doy mi voto y te sigo!

Gracias @jhelbich. Mucho suerte a ti! Un saludo de Irlanda :)

Welcome to Steemit, wishing you great success here. Followed you

Cheers. Following you back as we seem to both love crypto!

Thank you for that. Yes my friend, I pretty much live and breath it, I worked within PIVX for a while and kind of always involved in some sort of crypto project lol...but really trying myself to make a good run with Steemit on the long term. Feel free to write anytime, have a feeling you will soon find out how addictive Steemit can be, wishing you great success

Cheers. PIVX looks like a great project. I was following DASH closely, but it seems their innovations are no longer unique to that project.
There's one thing I've noticed. Almost all crytpocurrencies are at all time high marketcaps. Some would say they're in a bubble (including myself). But Steem is alone in the top 20 cryptos in having seen previous highs well above current prices and yet the community and underlying technology is stronger than ever. Looks like Steem has a bright future!

PIVX is having a big struggle at the moment, we all felt it rose way too fast and got too much whale attention to early on...the tech is solid, the people behind it are amazingly goal orientated and honest which is rare in some of these coins but the issue right now is mainly this amazing hype got started but traders seen glitz and gold in other places so a correction moment is happening. Good for those that get its a long investment, more for us who see the price dip and can volume up more but does show us that crypto is still a finicky beast lol. I did a ton of their marketing, started right before they rose up and been doing it since. Just lately the budgets aren't really in place for me to tell the family the long hours I put in makes sense to them so I had to kind of hand it over to others for the time being. Still back them though, great one to really check into.

Steem is stable, I tell you this, I seem to never even worry about prices on this thing. I think its the whole STEEM POWER concept that helps the stability. Only sad thing I see is I don't have enough of it lol...so I gotta keep using this more or less as a side savings thing but I am starting to learn the concepts and growing slowly so maybe one day I can cash out with the Power Down and make a nice 2 year steady check lol...Steem has a lot of potential

You have a natural "blue steel" look man :D

It incredible, the amount of countries you have traveled considering you are doing PhD in chemical engineering !!

Thanks- I channel my inner Zoolander ;)

Great introduction @rafadezelanda :)
You certainly have traveled a lot, and i also strongly believe in Buddhism. Great to have you aboard! :)

Thanks @aishwarya. I like your drawings:)
Also, have great memories of Udaipur. I met Dina Brodsky there. An incredible artist of miniatures and excellent ballpoint pen artist. You may like her work. Peace

Wow! you have been to India too? That's really awesome!
Do you have any link to her page or something? would help!
Thank you for the appreciation~ :)

Sure. dinabrodsky.com or the same name on instagram :)

Thanks! :)

Glad you like my writing @marcosepes1. It's true though right? You gotta laugh and cry at the same time at this little innocent catastrophe that we call life ;)

So beautifully and simple put. TRUE 100% but I just recommend people to keep a ratio of 95 to 5: 95% laughing 5% crying... and if you are going to cry make sure you do it with a good friend in your side...

Loved your introduction

Cheers @jonny-clearwater. May we all be in love :)

hello @rafadezelanda 😊 welcome to steemit !!

thank you @zkalemmiss, glad to be here. I was thinking that as facebook users, we are like unpaid employees: creating their content and then looking at brain-deadening ads. Compared with that, Steemit is this anarchist's dream- an anarchy that actually works based on merit.

Greetings @rafadezelanda and Welcome! What a bold and adventurous life you've lead. Glad you joined us here in the community.
