Hi Steemians, Steemmates and other amazing Steem people! :)
I have been one of you for about a week already (and even published a few diffident posts) but I somehow forgot to introduce myself. So let me put that right.
Greeting all Steemians from a beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico
My name is Petr and I am in my early 30s. I come from the Czech Republic, a small but beautiful country in Central Europe, where I have spent most of my life.
Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, summer 2016
As I found out later in life, school degrees are only good for making your CV look better but in case someone is really interested in that, I have degrees in Business English and English Philology.
After I finished my studies, I had a regular 9-5 (7-3 to be precise :D) office job in a big international company but I soon realized it was not what would make me happy. I quit that position and started a freelance career in translation and copywriting. Then, I discovered what is now generally known as digital nomadism and I completely fell in love with this lifestyle.
Working on a beach in Tenerife, Spain
I have taken a full advantage of the flexibility and independence of my freelance job to become a digital nomad – a person who can work online wherever he or she is while traveling the world. This lifestyle has allowed me to visit beautiful places, meet amazing people and experience unforgettable things and this is what I would like to share with you here on Steemit.
My encounter with a wild sloth in Costa Rican jungle
I honestly admit I am not a big fan of technologies and IT stuff. I do have a Facebook and Instagram account but I haven’t heard of these blockchain things or even cryptocurrencies just until recently. I still don’t understand many things here on this platform, including the bots, the minnow support groups or the whole concept of those three currency types etc. – I am just a scribbler now but I am ready to learn :)
Now that you know what I suck at, I should say something about my hobbies I guess. Well, the older I am, the more I feel like my biggest passions are nature and traveling. I just love being in nature – whether it is on an isolated beach, deep in tropical jungle, under the sea, in my favorite Czech forest or high up in the mountains. I love observing, photographing and protecting the Earth´s wildlife.
View of Mexican jungle from the Coba Pyramid, Yucatan
Close-up of Mexican iguana in hibiscus, Riviera Maya, Mexico
I am also a keen traveler. Besides the Czech Republic, my home country, I have lived in other four countries (currently in Mexico – hence the introductory photo :) and visited many more.
Blue Lagoon, Comino Island, Malta
My third biggest hobby would be probably sport – I like football (soccer), basketball, jogging, outdoor workout, snorkeling to name a few.
My favorite outdoor workout spot Rokytka in Prague
So these are the topics I have mostly written about so far and that I will mostly write about here. (I will mainly publish just my own articles and use my own photos)
Hopefully, there will be some people among you, Steemians, who will be interested in my posts :)
I hope my work will be a useful and valuable contribution to this amazing community.
Thanks for any support, help or advice. I would also like to thank to those who have already visited my blog and voted for my posts. Thank you and Steem on!
Petr
Cool park to train in Petr
Great photo's man.
Have you found a place in Acapulco yet?
I am looking to.
Hi @healthiswealth! Thank you for your feedback. Good to meet such a well-rounded person with so many interests, most of which we share :) Followed you back and looking forward to reading your posts :) I currently live on Riviera Maya, the Caribbean coast of Mexico but would love to visit Acapulco too! Have you been there?
I have stayed in Playa a couple of times.
If you have a extra room or a place for my hammock tent? I would love to get out there for Christmas and New years on the beach. What a blast!
Can't wait to dive into a Cenote again.... best water ever!
Hola! Unfortunately, we live in a tiny studio with no extra room so we cant host you but there is plenty apartments for rent right now and we will be happy to show you around if you come :) There are many stunning cenotes around Playa. Which one have you been to?
Hi Petr, all I need is two trees to set up my hammock tent and wi/fi, power for laptop.
what are the apt renting for?
I went to a couple in the jungle, one had a small Zipline down under the ground. The other not far by Quads had platforms to jump off at 55', 30' and 20 feet.
Also did a big one in Tulum once.
The cheapest studios start at about 150 USD/week I believe... there is a plenty of good Airbnb listnings in Playa, you can check it :)
Yeah, I think you were at Xplore or Xcaret then... Tulum has some astonishing cenotes too. The entire Riviera Maya is a great place for vacation though ;)
Thanks Petr,
I will let you know if I head down to Playa.
How long are you there til?
welcome :)
Thank you @mateakrnic :)

Welcome #phortun looks like you are going to provide some awesome content!
Thank you :) I cannot guarantee that but I will definitely try! :)
WELCOME ... I love seeing all the digital nomads signing up. If you like join our little FB group about Steemig and being a Digital Nomad!!!
Thank you @for91days :) Just checked your profile and found out you post a lot of travel stuff - followed you! :)
Wow, nice intro post! You seem to have a good grip on steemit already. Cool to hear you are from Czech Republic, I love that place so much and I am 1/4 Czech myself. Also cool to hear you quit your 9-5 and struck out on your own, I am doing the same thing! In fact, just wrote a post about it yesterday check it out: https://steemit.com/homesteading/@brownsgreens/goodbye-desk-job-time-to-pursue-dreams
Good luck to you!
Thank you @brownsgreens :) Will answer to your great post in your comment section ;)
I'm was also thinking of becoming a digital nomad... Your intro post just hiked my desire to quit my current lifestyle :DLove the images @phortun brother :)
Thanks for reading @creatovert :) Its good to know we inspire each other - reading your intro made me write mine :D Btw just checked your intro again and it has already earned you some 140 bucks! Thats awsome dude! If your posts are gonna be that successful here on Steemit, you can become a digital nomad literally overnight! :D I also put some effort into creating my introduction (not as much as you though) and there you go - I am about to get whooping 6 cents for it :D Anyway, looking forward to reading your next post my friend, Steem on! :)
Yeah but the sad truth is... the quality of post alone won't help the post to gain more visibility. You have to promote it a little through bots :D
I have a target of five years to achieve such lifestyle. Hope I achieve it sooner :)
I think if you do well here on Steemit @creatovert, you can start traveling the world much sooner than that my friend. Especially if you are - unlike me - familiar with all these bots and other additional functions and options here to break through more easily. Was it difficult to master that? Originally, I planned to just publish original, interesting stuff here but obviously, it wont be enough...
If you can gather at least 2500 active followers here then you won't need to promote your stuff.
The bots improve your post visibility but it's the readers who decide whether to read your post or not. It's tough to capture someone's attention here :D
Your contents are captivating though... You just need to build a follower base.
I suggest you to join communities on Discord like PALnet and SteemitBloggers ...
:)
Aside from support, There are also some perks being a part of these communities.
SteemitBloggers curate 3 posts per day for their members in the community and PALnet bots will boost your posts to improve your post ranking in the feed. https://discord.gg/GUuCXgY (PALnet) https://discord.gg/gRypnga (SteemitBloggers)
Thanks buddy @creatovert . I think I should start looking into these things... Writing posts that turn out to have no votes or even views is quite frustrating :D
I suggest you to do both :)@phortun brother ... there are two ways to build a good base here. One by writing awesome content & and other by helping out the community in anyway you can and supporting minnows and good quality posts.
Wow! I love your story, and I have to look at every photo further because hey are very nice. Thank you for sharing. I'd say welcome, but I'm only 11 days in myself. LOL
I hope we become friends on Steemit. (:
Thank you for your nice words @eaglespirit :) I also appreciate your help with my photocontests issues, thank you! Followed you back, my steemit friend!
My pleasure and I look forward to seeing all your future posts!
Welcome! You'll do great on Steemit, I'm sure of it! :D
Thank you for your encouraging words @uniwhisp :) Hopefully you are right. I am not that sure now though :D
