For the materialists:
Tall, glasses, long dark hair, fair skin, breasts, legs.
For the idealists:
I'm an idealist. And the ideal woman (obviously).
Note: Only idealists will understand that this is a serious joke.
For the object-oriented people:
I'm not an object.
Also true for other people.
For the existentialists:
I am. But I would love to be more.
For the phenomenologists:
I can be experienced, because I am a phenomenon.
And phenomenal, obviously.
For the nihilists:
I say yes, always. (Hammer included.)
For the analytical philosophers:
I'm a continental philosopher, and I'm fine with that.
For the non-philosophically minded:
Everything is philosophy. (Also the first sentence of a book I've written, to appear some time during the autumn of 2018.)
Philosophy is a broad notion, you don't have to be a philosopher, but enjoying conversations and searching for understanding is very much appreciated :)
For the fellow-travelers:
Hi. I've lived in China, USA, Israel, Ukraine, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. And traveled in several more countries. Home is where my bed sleeps. (Or, more correctly, where my laptop rests...)
For the academics:
Been there, done that. Becoming a Dr. was nice. Being a post-doc is not always as nice. So I'm teaching and writing, as a freelance philosopher. And a Research Fellow. And a Post-Doc. And my first monograph is to be published in a few months (March 2018). But mostly I'm a freelancer, philosophical consultant, philosophical investigator. Whatever you'd like to name it.
Brains for hire!
For the head hunters:
I am my own boss, and I am always available for projects where my philosophical talents, analytical skills and verbal power can be put to good use.
Also... Six things I could never do without...
- Language (writing, books, paper, internet, philosophy, intersubjectivity)
- Air (space, breath, cleanliness, smell, difference, fire)
- Food (activity, for thought, spice, chocolate, cooking, pie)
- Nature (green, dogs, walks, running, silence, truth)
- Time (choices, mystery, death, rhythm, growth, music)
- Rules (defiance, order, logic, freedom, trust, Spinoza)
This is me...
At present 32 years old/young. Living in the Netherlands, working world wide. Registered as freelancer in the Netherlands. Volunteering as a theater critic. Writing books. Making Singaporean Chicken Rice whenever I get a good excuse to do so.
I'm also on Twitter (@Nobyeni) and have some articles & reviews written on philosophy & travel & art & theater on my blog
Hey @nobyeni! I just followed you. I am passionate about philosophy. I am currently a Senior-year undergraduate minor-studying in philosophy and considering pursuing a PhD in it. I just joined the steemit community as well and plan to write about philosophy, however I have recently posted an article on meditation that you might enjoy! I look forward to reading your insights!
Hi @zlevitan14, thank you for your reply. Would be nice if this actually turns out to be a place where we can read, write & talk about philosophy, don't you think! Looking forward to reading your articles, also on how you will decide on whether to do a PhD or not! Let me know if you have any questions :)
Damn! That has certainly upped the intro ante!
(Sounds of virtual paper being scrumpled up and binned...)
Well, looking forward to your introduction... And take your time, in this world where everything goes by before you know it, it is still true that Rome wasn't built in one day...
Hey @nobyeni. Welcome to steemit, my friend. That was a very interesting, informative and intimidating introductory post. :)
I am partial to a bit of philosophical discussion myself but I am more than a little confused by life in general, so hopefully I might be able to learn something by following your posts in future, if you can keep things simple enough for me. :)
Glad to meet you. Hope your day is going well. :)
Hi @tonyr. Thanks for the warm welcome :) I only found out about Steemit afew days ago, during a Christmas get-together with my family... So, I'm happy to be here. If you have specific topics you'd like to discuss, please let me know. I'm not so much in favor of discussions, but I'm all for sharing ideas and opening up conversations ! :)
:) I'll let you catch your breath first but look forward to hearing your perspective when you post and will surely have some questions. :)
Have fun. :)
welcome to steemit 👋
Thanks! Looking forward to meeting a new community here. Will be interested to see what space there is / can be for philosophy and the like.
Smiling to meet you, enjoyed your intro...
Have fun here!
😄😇😄
Thanks!
