Dear World,

My name is Monstershy, although lately I'm more of a Monsterkickingbadass... but that doesn't roll off the tongue so nice now, does it? I guess you should call me Ms Monsterkickingbadass. I'm a married woman who has two daughters. Hair the colour of a post box, and over the next 9 months I'm going to be reborn - I'm going to change my life in unimaginable ways until i have formulated a plan to free me from this rat race we're in. This is your sign. Join me.

So lets begin...

How old are you? maybe that's not the right question. Have you done the checklist? What checklist I hear you ask...
THE CHECKLIST.
The house, the car, the job, the kids, the husband, the tv, the netflix, the iphone... ahh, yep, I see you nodding your head. Some of you are part way through. Some of you are on your second time around; you know - bigger house, bigger car.

Thats my point. I've just completed my first round of the checklist. I'm 36 years old. I own a mortgage on a small house in a crappy part of a crappier town and I made a decent wedge as upper middle management... which bought me all the time saving single serving cultural accoutrements that I needed to survive it and it stole ALL of my time and left me all kinds of used up and pensive. It even stole a pregnancy... but thats a sad story for a sad time.

HOW HAD I GOT TO THIS POINT? Why was I living to work, working to live? I dared to dream...

Everyone has those lightning bolt moments in their lives - the ones that make you look honestly and remotely on your journey through this world and jolt you into action... maybe this is yours. Maybe you were meant to find this rando on the interwebs who will share her journey with you as she dares to tear up the social construct that is THE CHECKLIST and write the one we all sing in our hearts... (yes grumpy - especially you) that feeling when you look out over the horizon when you arrive on holiday... Freedom.

This is my journey to find a slice of freedom.

1. No Work. Only adventure.

For every job that must be done there is an element of fun, find the fun and snap! the job's a game. I'm going to find ways to make my earning potential interesting and fun. I'll post short videos and gif-tros and posts on the things I try and how it went, as well as the usual helpful stuff.

1. No more MORT anything - Financial freedom gives you FREEDOM.

Target: £9000 by September. I have a loan. I'm a millenial - who doesn't . But I want it gone. Its a chain to the checklist as is the mortgage. If I can create a self sustaining world for myself I can eliminate the amount of time I need to work and thus the amount of time I need to give over. Since time is the true currency and finances allow you to achieve things quicker, the aim must be to limit how much time I have to spend... SPEND...woah...see.... freaky dude.

Finally - The aim the overarching route to my happiness is: TO BUILD MY OWN HOUSE AND FUCK OFF.

So this is my story - this is my journey. I'm going to choose happiness. I'm going to get through this and I'm not going to repeat the checklist. I'm checking out.
