Hello Steemians, My Introduction!

Hello Steemit friends!

Hello everyone, my name is Robert, born in Canada but for years have been traveling to various countries for work. I have been involved in the technical side, as well as the health, safety and environmental side of various exploration industries.

Through these years of work-travel I have had many challenging experiences – disease, threats to life, divorce and sometimes feelings of alienation, but more often nice people and fun. I have worked in many developing countries in very remote areas. C’est la vie!

There have also been many great experiences of new cultures and food, fantastic scenery and new friends. Seeing the world first hand with my boots on the ground has been invaluable. And with travel there can be a sense of freedom to counter the sense of dislocation.

Interests

My interests include technology, science, history, culture, politics, psychology and health. I am particularly concerned with the current ‘culture wars’ in the West, and the state of the Western world. Above all I am interested in Free Speech and how very fundamental it is for a vital thriving society.

The photo below is a local pub/bar/club in my current area made out of an old VW van. Blurred face for privacy for now folks, apologies! It's a great place to relax sometimes and meet people from all over.





I am definitely non - PC, yet at the same time polite and respectful to others. You can't have traveled the world for this many years and still take the PC culture of the West seriously. Other peoples and countries have real problems, life and death problems, and I have little time for the 'crying about microaggressions' crew. Without freedom of expression there is no freedom.

I will do my best to make interesting and informative posts that will add value to you, and that you will find worthwhile. And I hope to meet new people here and be a part of this growing community.
