First Post

Thanks to a friend and fellow painter, Larry Calabrese, I've decided to try out Steemit! I hope this will help me spread my art and message to a wider span of people.

A little bit about my self - I am a full time artist and live performance painter. My style is best described as "psychedelic surrealism." My recent work focuses on combining elements of reality (portraits, animals, landscapes...) with shapes and patterns to resemble psychedelic "tracers" and themes associated with multi-dimensional landscapes. The general message of my work is "nothing is as it seems..." and "look beyond the face value."

As for my process - I have impaired vision and wear glasses but not when I paint. I can see clearly up close, which helps me define the details of my paintings, and I use my blurry vision far away for composition and creating the geometric "tracer' patterns.

Some info on this first piece I'm posting:
Title: "Winter Solstice in Retrograde"
24 x 42 inches // oil on canvas // created in 2017

This painting was inspired by the Mercury Retrograde that took place on the Winter Solstice in 2016. The idea that Mercury Rx breaks and re-transforms the Great Wheel as it starts its journey back to apex.
