Hello everyone on Steemit!
I've been waiting on tenterhooks for my application to be accepted. The idea of a federated blockchain-based social media platform is insanely exciting (and also the opportunity to make money from it).
That day is finally here, and I can write on Steemit with everyone else.
I won't bore you with who I am or where I live or my entire history first and instead will jump to the salient point - what will I write about for you?
What Will I Post About?
My writing interests are historically very diverse but usually come to rest around theology, philosophy, culture, and higher-level political theory (not day to day analysis of political news - I'll leave that to the pundits). I am a libertarian Christian, and the positions I take in my writing reflects that.
I'm also getting into writing fiction, both short-form and long form, so I will be sharing that with my audience too. As with my nonfiction, while it's not blatantly evangelical or preachy, the theme ends up being both conservative and Judeo-Christian in nature (one ought to do the right thing, honesty is the best policy, etc).
My intention is to publish all the blog articles I've ever written (which honestly isn't too much) on Steemit. If I'm able to do that, I'll provide the links to those articles for you to get started.
EDIT: here are the articles I've posted on Steemit:
The media doesn't really care about stopping school shootings. They care about banning guns.

What Do I Do for a Living?
Well, I write.
Here's my pitch from my website www.meganeholstien.com
I’m a professional writer. I create compelling stories, whether I write for my clients or for myself. Writing isn’t just a job for me. It’s my passion. Writing is my favorite thing to do – my first book was published when I was 17, a year into my career in entrepreneurship. After spending seven years working with startups in the tech space, I realized my true passion lies in writing. When you work with me, all of that enthusiasm and experience is brought to bear.
I've written a book which I like to think doesn't suck:
Idea to App, the Absolute Beginner's Guide to App Development
Idea to App is the culmination of spending several years running a business making apps. Before I was a writer, I was an entrepreneur in the tech space. Hip offices with glass walls, wearing jeans to work, the whole nine. I started a business when I was fifteen making apps for autistic children called Pufferfish Software that took off like a shot. I won the Entrepreneur Organization's Global High School Entrepreneur award, I was invited to give a TEDx talk, and got all the traditional stamps of approval.
The problem was, I didn't love software. It was fun and it would hardly be a punishment to spend my life in software, but it wasn't my passion either. After writing Idea to App, I became a consultant, working mostly in project management and digital marketing. But during that time, the only thing I daydreamed about was being a famous writer.
Now I'm making a go of it. It is frightening to leave a career which has brought me so much success, but if I'm even half as successful at writing I'll be pleased as pie.
Do You Do Anything Other Than Work?
I do! Photography is a hobby of mine. It's an insanely challenging thing to do for a living, so being a hobbyist is enough for me. Here are a handful of my favorites:
I've got an Instagram and a Flickr if that's more your speed.
EDIT: I just discovered Steepshot, which is like Instagram on STEEM. Here is a link to my Steepshot.
How Do You Travel?
I'm glad you asked! I travel around in my van and life the #vanlife. It's a van I've converted into an RV.
I would show you a picture of the entire interior, but I recently redid it and don't have one (and it's too dark outside to go take one).
The view is pretty nice from the inside.
You can't let me start talking about #vanlife. Once I start I'll never stop.
That's all folks! I hope to see you on Steemit!
Signing off,

Introbot is hosted and managed with donations from @byColeman to help make your journey on Steemit truly rewarding. Your feedback is always welcome so that we may improve this welcome message.
Oh yea, I have upvoted you and followed you. Many blessings from @introbot & @bycoleman
I love the fact you found your passion early in life. As to whether or not to stay in a van or camper to me is simple... The bigger the vehicle the less places you can find to camp or boondock. To me it's trading a little freedom for comforts of home. Everyone has to find their way in his life style so always follow your heart and live it your way
Hi @meholstein welcome to the community, I am also new here and I really enjoy it. I am looking forward to your posts and will follow you. Enjoy the ride.
Hi, @meholstein, this is my first comment on steemit, ever! I also write for a living , in English and Korean. I'm thinking of trying my hand at fiction, too. I'll be interested in seeing your progress here. See you around!
Welcome to steemit, megan! Very nice intro you have, went straight to the point to write more about what you want to offer to the community rather than yourself so its good to see that! I really hope you become successful in this platform!
I see you make eBooks too! I am looking to make my own eBook later on in the future. I used to write a lot of stories when I was younger but kind of stopped cause I became more passionate with making YouTube video but steemit is getting me back slowly to write :) Bringing one of my talents back. I feel I can learn a lot from you, Megan! Feel free to check out my blog posts incase you find something there that interests you. :)
And you can come join my Discord group where we help new members like you get more exposure on Steemit: https://discord.gg/WmxRnc3
If you do not have a Discord, making one is very easy! If you need help setting it up, I will be glad to do so. Great Intro post! Upvoted and followed!
Thanks for the reply! I have a discord but don't use it so much. I'm interested in getting exposure, but I'm not focusing on it - I know the long game is just to keep producing content. If you could point me to something that will help me understand tags and categories on Steemit, that would be helpful, because they are a total mystery to me!
I think I can help a bit with that, have you checked the list of trending tags on the left side when you check your steemit feed and trending? Either ways, it is an idea to analyze this and then make a blog on it so it can help you and anyone else understand more. Is that ok with you?
Welcome @meholstein.. Have fun and enjoy your stay. :)
Welcome to Steemit I wish you the best of luck
