Hello! My name is Max Mogren, and I am excited to be a part of Steemit!
I am a freelance journalist, livestreamer, and backcountry snow reporter based in Alpine, Wyoming. In addition to writing under a couple anonymous pseudonyms, I dissect mainstream news in a long format show called Wake Up Wyoming at Wake Up News on Fasc-Book. My show typically covers #environmental issues, #science, #geoengineering, #finance, #economics, the #MIC, and #corruption stressing the importance of #media #literacy.
I recently had the honor to interview the likes of Carey Wedler (Editor in Chief of The Anti-Media), Derrick Broze (freelance journalist), Lee Camp (host of Redacted Tonight on RT), Jim Lee (climateviewer.com), Domenick Marrama (weathermodificationhistory.com), Richard Gage (ae911truth.org) and Barrett Brown (federally persecuted hacktivist and founder of pursuanceproject.org).
If you would like to be a guest on my show, let me know! I love sharing diverse perspectives and even if we disagree completely I keep it civil and light-hearted
I studied journalism, philosophy, and medicine, but dropped out of medical school in 2005 when I realized that modern medicine is more interested in keeping people sick than making them well. From 2010-2012 I learned a few of the tricks of the independent media trade as assistant to LAPD whistleblower and pioneering investigative journalist Michael C. Ruppert (RIP).
Today I was streaming live on Facebook when my account got locked out for the second time in two weeks. Luckily, I was using a third party service (belive.tv) so the broadcast was not interrupted, but it feels like it's just a matter of time until my account gets deactivated permanently.
Also, despite a following of 530k, our Wake Up News page is continually suffering from diminished reach, likes, and new followers. It seems like the censorship on F-Book and YouTube is getting totally out of hand, so I'm now committed to helping decentralized social media replace the censored corporate crap.
I'm finally diving into #Steemit wholeheartedly! My account has been active for several months, and I've reposted a bunch of livestreams on #DTube ( )but now it's time to push forward. If anyone has any suggestions for how I can best contribute to this community, please let me know in the comments.
I got my start livestreaming while covering Standing Rock, quit my slave job bartending last summer, and am intent on making a career out of social media journalism.
I am very interested in the livestreaming capabilities here and hope to bring my lovely audience to Steemit/Dtube ASAP. Any suggestions?
😊welcome!follow me, good
Will do. Thanks for checking out my #introduceyourself post!
Well, well... Welcome! We're glad to have some professionals here, hehe :)
Question: why would you say that about modern medicine?
I think US medicine is ridiculously overpriced and too focused on managing chronic conditions with pharmaceuticals instead of preventing illness by promoting healthy living. We spend ~$10,348 annually per capita on so-called healthcare yet our citizens' suffer from an assortment of avoidable epidemics (obesity, diabetes, autism, mental illness, heart disease, etc).
Also, in the US healthcare is ~17.9% of US GDP which is almost double the global average of ~9%. Despite double the investment as a %, we are certainly not anywhere near 2x "healthier" than comparable nations. It seems like overpriced healthcare is used to prop up our floundering economy at incredible expense to the citizenry.
In University I wrote an honors thesis on AD/HD and that research led me down the rabbit hole of rampant misdiagnosis, overdrugging, and the disturbing trend to medicalize conditions as harmless of daydreamy childhood.
Personally, when I was in medical school I sought help dealing with stress and depression brought on by long days spent under fluorescent lights memorizing seemingly pointless facts. Instead of offering me support in the form of counselling services, the University medical pros prescribed me anti-depressants and sent me on my way. Instead of popping pills I opted to drop out and make life moves that made me happier.
Thanks for the detailed response, I see your point.
