I'm gonna look out for Goodall! There's nothing like a well constructed slow tempo shivering you little by little hehe! To me C. Kleiber is probably the best Beethoven, I know I'm not being particulary original saying this but honestly I feel he just deliver like no one else! Do you listen to Mahler?

I do listen to Mahler although not as much as I once did. I think we all overdosed on Mahler in the 1980s to about 10 years ago. There was a time you could hardly move for performances of the Second Symphony in London. Agree re Carlos Kleiber in what Beethoven he recorded; I'm not convinced his Tristan is the best though.
Oh, I didnt knew Kleiber had a Tristan! Another one to look out for! I have a special place for Mahler within me; in Brazil its dreadfully rare to catch a Mahler performancw... I sure would like to overdose on him! Specially with his 5th and 7th! haha Wonderful to have this conversation with you, @parsifalangel!
Ps interesting you like the Seventh; not so many people do. I remember a performance conducted by Salonen in I think the 1980s that convinced me of its worth; from there to Tennsyedt'd EMI recording ....
May I ask what your thoughts on Bernstein's Mahler are?
I appreciate Bernstein's Mahler very much, he was pivotal in popularizing Mahler's works, I guess... but its not my favorite Mahler. I may favor his rival Karajan! What about you, what do you think on Bernstein's Mahler?
