Hi all,
A good friend of mine, @Jamesashton pointed me in the direction of Steemit. It looks interesting so I thought I'd have a go at the obligatory introductory post.
So I currently work for one of the worlds largest online payment providers (which is interesting in itself with regards to the future of blockchain and this platform, but that's a different discussion). I'm team lead for a small team, providing 3rd line support to various payment platforms. I love my job.
Up until a few years ago, I didnt do much more than just my 9-5 job and spending time with my wife and daughter
However, 2 years ago, 29 weeks into a pregnancy term, we lost our unborn child, Isobel, and everything changed. In order to help with the grieving process and to raise awareness, we undertook "Isobel's 29 Challenges", which consisted of 29 activities, one for every week of the pregnancy. We did things from white water rafting, to aquazorbing, skiing to the "Three Peaks Challenge".
All of this culminated in the climbing of Mount Kilimanjaro which was one of the hardest things I've ever done.
Since spending 6 months doing these challenges, we have had a different focus in our lives, just enjoying the now as much as possible. I have taken up cycling and last year cycled across the UK. We did the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge which involves climbing three peaks in 12 hours. This year we are spending 3 weeks camping in Iceland in June and in October we are trekking across Nepal and going to Everest base camp.
I'm a keen photographer (Canon 60D and L series lenses), and have just purchased a DJI Mavic Pro, which i'm taking to Iceland and Nepal. I'll post footage and final videos on here when I am back, as well as all the photos I take of course :)
Really looking forward to becoming an active member of this community and watching it go from strength to strength.

Welcome to Steemit!
Sorry to hear about your loss, but what you did is incredible. Setting yourself challenges to find a way back into life - I think that was the best thing you could have done in this situation.
Accomplishing things like climbing the Kilimanjaro is amazing, and a memory that you will treasure forever!
Thanks for the wonderful comment :)
