Trying something new! (@lincone)

in #introduceyourself5 years ago (edited)

Hello, I'm Linco. I'm 22 year old guy who seems to be starting a lot of new things at once, but mainly learning art and getting myself out there. I feel like I have remained kind of in a bubble for a lot of my life, I've always had an interest in drawing when I was young but set it aside for academics.

Now that I've gotten a BSC in Physics, maybe I am having a quarter-life crisis lol. Or maybe all the schooling has given me huge burnout. This summer I started to slowly inch my way back into drawing and art and reignite that childhood passion (that I'm sure all of us have had! Drawing seems so viscerally engaging to the young mind).

Here's the latest digital art thing I did, "awkward first movie date"

This was not at all inspired by real life... I am as cool as a cucumber.

I am still going back to school, but this summer I've taken art a lot more seriously, studying anatomy/gesture/light/colour (basically all the fundamentals every established artist tells you to study). I make sure I do at least 30 minutes a day, and I've been keeping it up for 53 days so far (there's a cool website called quickposes that helps with practice and rewarding consistency in drawing!)

Ontop of just creation of art, I decided to start sharing my hobby despite being a very private person. I'm normally the lurker on forums that never posts anything (maybe this is quarter-life crisis again). Steem so far from my 2 hour experience is a bit nostalgic, I normally just read reddit but never really felt attached to any particular community. It seems more tight-knit here, and the idea of blogging never really occurred to me but it does seem helpful for self-reflection. The cool thing is in my Physics degree we have used markdown and LaTex so the images and how to write these blogs seems familiar but also evoke PTSD... just kidding.

So I'm excited to be here, I'm hoping I can find a place to belong (although all these copy-pasta comments on new post do scare me a bit haha). Thanks for reading!

Welcome to Steemit lincone. The official FAQ can be found here and has A LOT of information https://steemit.com/faq.html - Also remember, Steemit is just ONE of the sites built that uses Steem the blockchain. You should also check out DTube and DSound for starters and if you're a gamer, Splinterlands! There are many other cool apps but I can't list them all here, there's just too many! But I'd also like to mention Steempeak, it's a better blogging platform that has a lot of cool features. The latest project you should also check as a new member is a palnet! Welcome to the blockchain! :) Oh, and if you're interested in creating your own tokens or smart contracts, check Steem engine!

Thank you Janne! I've read through the FAQ and I feel like there's a lot more I need to learn haha a bit intimidating at first but I think I'll slowly dip my toes in and get a feel for the water.

Hi and welcome here! When I started on steemit, my biggest problem was to find interesting people to interact with. So, to help newcomers getting started I created a directory with other interesting and or talented steemians to follow or interact with. Feel free to check it out at https://www.steemiandir.com I am sure it will help you find like-minded people. Enjoy your stay here and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

This post you provided is good but don't join his curation trail. Upvote manually others.

You do not need to join the trail, upvote provided by others.
Of course, I would still benefit from recommending that post.

Thanks for leaving your comment on my reply, I will also take the time to glide through your wall. Today, I took the time to reply and should probably read something now. :)
Thanks & have a nice day @whack.science

Welcome to the plaform buddy! Wow a Physics major. Reminds me of Leonard and sheldon in the big bang theory LOL

Thank you! Surprisingly haven't watched much big bang theory but probably most people I've met in my degree are just as awkward (myself included) haha

Welcome to steemit! It's really a good platform for the enthusiast writers and for the people who want to share their good work with the world! ;)

Hi, welcome to SteemIt. Good luck on your Steem journey and I wish you the best. I've been here since 2016 but it was only last June when I fully committed to take Steem seriously. Please feel free to read my STEEMJOURNEY.

Here are also some tools that I use and I hope you can find them useful too:

  1. Use Partiko App from your mobile phone to post to your blog, comment, and upvote content in SteemIt to earn points which you can use to boost your own content.
  2. If you’re into games, you may wanna try playing Steem Monsters, a blockchain game based on Steem. It lets you compete with other players around the world with creature cards which you can sell and/or convert to crypto.
  3. Get rewarded for staying fit and healthy with ActiFit - a Steem-based app which rewards you with tokens (which you can eventually use to boost your content) for being physically active. If you're already using Fitbit or a similar app, then you'll find this easy to use.
  4. Invest your Steem Power at Smart Steem and get daily rewards and earn more Steem.
  5. Earn rewards by sharing links to interesting webpages through DLike and earn Dlike tokens
  6. Exchange votes with other users with
    SteemEngine.Net / https://steemengine.net/join?r=5604
  7. Steempeak and eSteem both offer an intuitive way of using Steem, enhancing your user experience.
  8. Earn free STEEM through The Crypto Faucet and Earn Crypto by completing tasks and watching videos

Cheers
Neil

Thank you for the warm welcome! =)

Fuck physics, drawing is the real shit! :D

😂 😂 😂 😂

aww yeah!! (Sorry to throw all my physics brothers under the bus)

sadly, phsyics is going in the wrong direction since decades..

hi, welcome. lovely art. looking forward for more to learn from you.🤩

Thank you! Looking forward to learn from you as well I see you're getting into drawing too!

Hi ! I'm glad you have decided to get back to your art and plan to keep including it daily even when you get back to school.

I wish I had done that as I have always been creative, but I let other life take over and didn't fight to keep a space for my art along the way. I didn't get back to it really till I was in my 50's. I still enjoy it immensely, but I often wish I had started much earlier, so that by now I would have grown more.

I don't really do regrets as it is a total waste of time to dwell on things in the past that cannot be changed, but if I allowed one regret, I think not being determined to make time for my art to be a bigger part of my entire life would be that one.

Have fun on your art journey !

As for the blockchain here, my only advice would be to hang around a while and learn how things go before making your decisions about what other parts of it to participate in. I am not talking about following others or leaving comments and votes, those are always good things to do.

Thanks a lot for the advice Jacey!

I'm glad you still enjoy it, I don't think it's ever too late to start! Haha especially after hearing the story of Grandma Moses who started a painting career at 70.

Good old Grandma ! ha ha
