You're right, in your first paragraph, about "getting in on the ground floor" -- although Steemit's been around for more than a year, it's still "in beta" and the "hockey stick"-rise is just getting started!

Sharing the decisions you've made which have made your life worse -- that seems to be a great idea! Success is much more ephemeral than failure -- failures can be better analyzed. I had an idea for a "life hack" post recently but forgot it (I'm recovering from multiple concussions, and am rather forgetful). Anyway, welcome and keep writing!
