HELLO STEEMIT I AM HERE

Hello Steemit!

In all honesty, I have been here for a little over a month now thanks to my older sister, (@emilyLjuilian) who convinced me to play a 'question a day' game called Crowdini, (@crowdini) that she likes to consistently kick my ass in. Up until now I've just been lurking in the shadows, reading, up-voting posts, and commenting, but I feel it is finally time to introduce myself!

## About me ##
I am a Chicago-born, Washington transplant, and recent college graduate just trying to figure out what to do with my life. Although I majored in Exercise Physiology with the hopes of becoming an Occupational Therapist, I find myself increasingly intrigued and equally devastated by the racial and socioeconomic injustices in this fine country. How I plan on fighting for equality and justice, you ask? I have no damn clue, so stick around to find out!

Free from the clutches of education for the first time in my life and 2,000 miles away from most of my friends and family, I have been doing a lot of self exploration and figuring out what makes me happy, what I am passionate about, and what excites me. I have found myself splitting time between the beautiful city of Seattle and trekking through the forests, mountains, and beaches that surround the Pacific Northwest. The more I seem to learn about the world, the people that inhabit it, and how it all works, the more I want to escape it all.

##What I am Doing Here##
Walking to the beat of my own drum, I've slowly starting distancing myself from the normative platforms of social media. Over-saturated with disingenuous people looking to promote their 'perfect' lives and not so 'humble-brag' their achievements, I have officially logged off of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. I do however miss the accessibility to news and information so I am hoping Steemit can help fill that void and teach me a few things along the way! I plan to launch a blog in the upcoming weeks about my grandparents who survived WWII in Nazi occupied Poland, their journey across the Atlantic, and a new life as immigrants in America!
