The Kensho Life Project

Kensho is a term from the Japanese Zen that can be translated as Ken "vision, seeing"and Sho “essence, nature”, referring to the journey of discovering one’s own true nature.

Kensho Life is a journey of learning and discovery, we investigate how our minds and emotions work and share the experiences, tools and tips that we find helpful, in order to live a happier, more meaningful life in balance with nature and the people around us.

We focus our interest in three broad areas: sustainability, mindfulness & well-being, and life changes.

Sustainability

Nature is not a place to visit, it is home - Gary Snyder

Although we’ve been urbanites all our lives, in the past few years we’ve been hearing the calling of our wild side. We’re increasingly learning to appreciate the beauty of nature, the incredible creatures that live in it and how we’re all connected.

Our hearts break when we hear about the destruction of such precious and unique marvel. One (regarded optimistic) estimate finds the chance of another planet bearing life is of 2.5 x 10-22 (that’s a chance of 0.00000000000000000000025) Yep, that’s a pretty slim chance of finding life in another planet, so we feel it really is a no-brainer saving and treating this very unique planet with care and respect. At the end of the day, the only reason we exist is because the Earth provides everything we need to live.

On our coming posts we will be sharing tips and ideas to live a more conscious, sustainable and balanced life.

Mindfulness & Well-being

How you live today is how you live your life - Tara Brach

We’re in this world for a VERY SHORT amount of time, and while we all know that every moment counts, it is hard to be fully aware all the time. At Kensho we keep on learning and sharing so that we can be more present and compassionate, our lives grow fuller and filled with joy, and we become more resilient to challenges, pain and changes.

Mindfulness rests at the core of topics and issues we address and investigate, and we use it as a framework to incorporate useful concepts and practices. Our coming posts will bring more information on how to unlock the power of mindfulness in our daily lives, as well as understanding the science behind it.

Life changes

If in the last few years you haven't discarded a major opinion or acquired a new one, check your pulse. You may be dead - Gelett Burgess

From small changes in our daily routines to big life changes, we talk about our personal experience in dealing with change. We’re turning our lives upside down and we are already encountering major difficulties, which we hope will serve as an opportunity for personal growth. In sharing these moments of struggle and joy we hope others others who might be questioning their own lifestyles will find something of use.

If we take a survey of the greatest actions…in the world…we shall find the authors of them all to have been persons whose Brains had been shaken out of their natural position - John Adams
