Finally, I have taken the time to do my intro for Steemit. I signed up simply to support the platform and to increase the enrolment. A journey of a million miles begins with a single step. Readers will have to excuse my grammar etc. because I write how I speak.
I am just about to reach my 47th birthday. I live on a small island in the Caribbean called Dominica, not the Dominican Republic. According to the last census we still have a population under 100 000. I no longer have much time to read so I listen to a lot of stuff, especially before bedtime and that is how I heard about Steemit. I just can’t remember on what show. It could have been from a guest on Louder with Crowder or Gavin McInnes (Rebel Media). I felt compelled to support something that was not Facebook or any of the other platforms that seem to promote censorship.
Freedom of speech is one of the most important aspects of a free society. A person has every right to say what is on their mind even though it may be offensive to others. There is a huge difference between a person saying how much he/she hates you because of who you are in terms of race, size, height or any other classification and saying things or calling others to action, which may result in harming you.
Steemit is going to be my effort to get back to reading more and participating in discussions with people from around the world.
