I'm Summer, a self-professed caffeine junkie laughing my way through motherhood and entrepreneurship
Let me start by saying I may or may not laugh in the moment. But looking back, thinking about destroyed upholstery, or sh*t smeared on the walls, or crayon art on the floor, or juice/soup/eggs/anythingliquidandmessy spilled in the most challenging way possible in the fridge, I don't think about it. It's the smiles on those little faces when they know they've done something right. It's the warm fuzzies I think they feel when they know they've helped someone. It's the sense of pride I think they take in what they do when it is hung on the fridge or pictures. THOSE are the things I remember. Running like they can fly. Spinning like they are free from gravity...until they are not and they collapse together on the ground, laughing. Imagining boxes are a house or a hero super vehicle or a home for bugs or a treasure chest or a anything. And laying down at night with my husband, looking back on the day and stifling our laughter under the covers about something silly that happened during the day.
I spend my days trying to keep my sh*t together when my hired help doesn't show up, there's spit up on my shirt, and my toddler mashes laptop keys in poop. Coffee provides a distinct buffer between mi vida loca and straight insanity. Coffee – and laughing. It's a fine line, but I enjoy living on the edge. I'm in ecommerce, I have been for a couple of years now. It's like an additional, income-providing child (oxymoron?). It's why my fingernails are nail-biting short, and it's another one of my favorite, ever changing and growing accomplishments.
My husband helps to level me out. He keeps me from being too much of an asshole. My Type A personality is probably tough to put up with and even tougher to crack through. We work side by side in parenting and business and life. It's nice to have someone so sexy to kick back with.
My allegiance is to God. I am a follower of Jesus and I try (and fail but I try again and again and again) to be a lover of all.
Our (as in my husband and I) goal is to become location independent. We plan to homeschool our kids, and we think the opportunity to immerse them in other cultures for weeks or months at a time would be awesome. But a great cuppa joe, a fine wine, and dancing barefoot on the beach are not out of the question during the times we are abroad.
I tend to be a little shy – hence the late Steemian hello (I've been on almost a month). But...Hello. I'm glad I'm here.
Welcome to Steemit! Nice intro and wow, quite the image of motherhood. Like to hear the journey and about the decision to home school. Followed!
There is NEVER a dull moment. However, I've managed to not laugh so hard about it that my alcoholic beverage sprays out my nose. It's all about self-control.
How else could you get through it all hahaha
