Our culture has been saturated and brainwashed by Newtonian Physics,,,, that is what is focused on in the education system (for agenda's worthy another article's examination) while ignoring 100 year old quantum physics experimental facts not to mention newer quantum concepts of our reality.
Newtonian Physics makes us psychologicaly look at the world in a "clockwork" fashion, and leads to the conclusion that MATTER is the "fundamental" substance of the Universe and therefor Consciousness must be as a result of the increasing complexity in the material structures of the Universe. However this is a backwards and intentionally misleading perspective that lends itself to Father Figure seeking (security from outside entities like Government and Banks and Insurance etc.).
Quantum Physics with the Dual-Slit experiment and Entanglement experiments and Bose-Einstein Condensate experiments clearly shows a picture where CONSCIOUSNESS (and Possibility) are the true underlying substance of the Universe.............
Unfortunately, many scientists (like the one in the video below) are so indoctrinated that they can't see the obvious when it is slapping them in the face. ENJOY the VIDEO !!!

Have you read any of Rupert Sheldrake's work @i-am-mark? He's written a lot of fascinating stuff (as well as found his own scientific evidence) regarding consciousness existing beyond the brain. His stuff has really brought more of a tangible perspective to this concept and definitely adds to what you're saying here. Check him out if you haven't already!

Read your post,,, left some comments I think,,, No, haven't heard of nor read Rupert Sheldrake,,,, I'll have to check it out,,,, there is PROOF that CONSCIOUSNESS is fundamental to the "creation" of matter,,, so it becomes obviouse that the "NON-Physical" is the creator or the "physical",,,,,
and the newest (and best) model of everything accounts for that fact and is the ONLY theory that explains why constants (like the speed of light) are what they are:
further example of the UNITY of everything can be found in Quantum Entanglement and Boes-Einstein Condensates
all of these together make it pretty clear the SPIRITUAL (aka NON-Physical) is the foundation of Material and hence matter did not evolve to the level of consciousness,,, matter conforms to the ongoing conscious experience of the ONE act (verb) of EXPERIENCING (aka the Observation). We are the non-physical CONSCIOUS OBSERVER that exists within everything that interacts with anything else,,, that which is capable of recognizing "other",,, even though there truly is no "other" in the non-physical layer.
