introducing... myself!

Hey Steemit, I’m Hayles!

intro2.jpg

I live aboard my sailboat SV Tout Va Bien with my canine cohort Rodney - a rescued Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He's a pretty rad dude.

We enjoy travel, challenges and adventure. I'm new to the steemit community, and I'm really looking forward to sharing our liveaboard adventures with you!

Boat ownership has had a very steep learning curve. It's been incredibly humbling and thoroughly empowering. The lifestyle of being a live aboard emulates many values I hold with high regard. For instance; living simply and consciously. There's nothing like living on a 33ft boat to point out the excess in one's life. Material possessions, unnecessary waste, the torment of miss matched socks...

Touts has taught me to do more with less, and I've become richer in life for it. I truly adore being out on the water. Stay tuned for future posts about learning, thoughts and adventures aboard SV Tout Va Bien. We're good crew just keepin it real ;)

Welcome to steemit!

I'm looking forward to more of your boating adventures. If you ever make it down to SoCal and want to paddleboard let me know.

Hey Thanks! I own & run a SUP rental company www.supvic.ca
Would love to head south and paddle in some warmer waters!

Nice. Please do. If you are ever down here drop me a line and we'll go paddling.

I have a lot of questions about doing SUP overnights around Victoria and the San Juans. I've been planning a SUP multi-day trip up there for awhile. Any local help would be much appreciated!

Absolutely! So stoked to help :) shoot me an email: hayley@supvic.ca

Thanks! I'll probably be sending the email from austin@sup-pacific.com

Welcome to Steemit, Hayles! Awesome to see you on here finally!! Can't wait to check out more of your posts

Thanks Thomas!

Welcome, will love to see more post about life living aboard and your adventures. What's the internet like when you traveling?

Truthfully it can be a little hit and miss. Most marina's in the Pacific Northwest are well equipped. Cellphone data tends to be pretty useful for coastal cruising with Canada - but watch out for roaming rates in international waters! On blue water sailings you can receive weather forecasts through airmail (provided by SailMail). Airmail uses HAM radio technology to receive weather data, i've seen it used but have yet to understand the nuts and bolts of it myself. I will say the times where I do not have an internet connection are a time of solace and simplicity.

Welcome to steemit @hayles. Have fun and enjoy ur stay..:)

thank you! Looks like you have some great travel stories :)

Yeah! I really love to travel and planning to travel more..hehehe

Welcome, nice boat!

Thanks - I adore her, but I'm a little biased ;)

Hello,
Greetings,
Your way of life must be an immense adventure.

It certainly can be!

Welcome aboard, Mate!
Where are you home ported?

Thanks! Victoria BC is home port currently.

Welcome to Steemit. Great intro post! Look forward to following along ❤

Thank you! I really like your post on long exposures - something I am just starting to get into.

Oh thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Long exposures are definitely one of my favourite things to do. I just hate lugging around a tripod 🙂

I hear ya! I have a love/hate relationship with tripods.

@hayles A big welcome to steemit!!!!

Thank you!

Welcome!!

I love your dog, is so cute!

Once again, welcome to steemit community!

Thanks! Rodball is a pretty handsome dude.

Hey Hayley, nice to see you on Steemit. I am still finding myself around this system, writing and learning to communicate with everyone. Lovely photos and post. Look forward to more.

Hi Angie! Great to see you on here as well!!!! I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts too! PGS has some great potential to help many people :)

It sure does hayles. It makes so much sense for me to let everyone know about Bill's movie.

Hello and wow @hayles, thanks for sharing part of your life that I have yet to experience... just feeling support and hope you would share more of what you do and see!

Definitely will do! You really can do anything. It takes time, work, patience and tolerance - you can do anything! What appeals to you most about sailing?

I have only set my feet to go to islands for 30 or 45 minutes the most. Ferry, yes for longer time, but no feeling of waves, plus, I was just a passenger so no labour required, right?

Hmmm... I guess, really guessing the appeal is that you feel the complete control over yourself, with confidence, empowerment, and joy of boat life.

Also I have no idea, really, like how is your mailing address is like? You have internet? How to take shower and flush toilet? How to deal with storm... these silly things I wonder, no need to answer to these, because I am looking forward to discover them from your future post! Cheers**

Love your dog. Cannot believe we are on a boat, the SNL music video digital short was pretty funny. You have great friends.

I’m forever greatful to anyone with the patience and character required to be my friend!

Hello @hayles, thankyou for sharing an impressive blog, I also mentioned you in my post (in the link below). If you like it then please follow and upvote me, if you donot like it, then please message me in that post, then i will remove your information.

hi there! welcome to steemit :)

many thanks!

Welcome to steemit community @hayles

thank you! how long have you been a steemer? any advice?

welcome to @hayles
follow to me

Welcome to steemit community @Hayles . Waiting for your other blog.

Welcome to steemit! Your pup is stunning :) also, congrats on such a successful introduceyourself!

Thank you very much!

Hello, Hayles, and Welcome to Steemit.

It sounds like you're living quite the adventure. I'm sure you'll be able to provide lots of interesting, intriguing, and inspiring stories on your blog.

Below are a few basic points of advice re posting on Steemit.
1 – Longer posts are more lucrative than short posts. If you make a post of 20–30 paragraphs, it's more likely to earn rewards.
2 – Include some photos, images or graphs, to complement the text.
3 – Make sure the text and photos are formatted properly, so that your post looks attractive and appealing.
4 – Be yourself.
5 – Be interesting and informative.
6 – Create quality content. Steemit is intended to be a platform of quality content. (You will see many insignificant posts with meager content and no quality. Most of those of posts [called “shitposts” by Steemit whale Stellabelle] will earn few rewards and soon pass into oblivion.)
7 – Get online and start curating. Read various posts, comment on those posts you find interesting, and upvote those posts. That’s the best way to attract followers.

Hope this helps for now. Good luck, and Full Steem Ahead!

it sure does! Thank you!!

You’re welcome. One more point. Submitting photos in the various photo contests is a great way to earn a bit of Steem and to attract followers. Here are links to 3 contests.

@photocontests, organized by @juliank
Daily color challenges, organized by @colorchallenge (Temporarily inactive)
#tepchallenge, organized by @theexplorer

For entries into those photo contests, short posts are OK. But it's a good idea to add a bit of text explaining the photo, to give the post some meat and to make it more interesting.

Welcome to steemit @hayles :) enjoy being here and God bless you on your adventures!

Welcome @hayles! Cool boat :)

Thank you - I am quite enamored with her :)

Hello @hayles Welcome to Steemit community! You have a great adventure there! Awesome Intro. My tip would be: Keep posting and be consistent. Upvoted! And good luck with your journey here! :)

Hello @hayles welcome to steemit it seems that you are an adventurous woman, you will really have lots of experiences to share here on this platform=) Looking forward to your future blog ..

@micch

Welcome to Steemit. What an amazing adventure. Happy travels.

Do you all live on the boat? What region do you sail in?

It's just me and my dog on the boat. We do have guests frequently - she sleeps 5 relatively comfortably. Right now we are sailing in the PNW - namely near Victoria BC

Just looked on a map to see where that is. I haven't been to that area of Canada just to Montreal, but people tell me it is very nice.

Congratulations @hayles!

Hi @hayles welcome on board to steemit! You and your pup are living the dream!

There is a small but very passionate and fun community of sailors he from all around the world, and we are all about supporting each other on the platform and also discussing anything sailing related :)

Following you, and also sent you an invite through @knot.

Oh my heart! In a past life this life, (if you know what I mean) I had a beautiful sail boat which I lived on at Kappas Marina in Sausalito, CA. Pure Bliss waking up every morning to Mount Tam, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, the San Fran skyline, Alcatraz.... People always ask me what I miss most about my old life and ALWAYS the first thing out of my mouth is my boat! I'm excited to read of your adventures and perhaps re-live a piece of my history vicariously through you!

I certainly do know what you mean! That sounds like a fabulous past life - I hope to sail to San Fran in the future! I hope you enjoy my posts :)

@hayles welcome to Steemit. You're the 2nd person I've come across living on the ocean. @giannasilva also living the high life.

When I nail down the passive income part of my life, I'll embark on a round-the-world trip like you guys.

Great photos and company all round. Look forward to more of your experiences. All the best here at Steemit. Chhers!

Welcome to Steemit!!! This community is amazing :)

welcome to Steemit, @hayles! I hope you'll enjoy being here as I do. :) thanks for sharing your sailboat adventure with us!

My pleasure! Looking forward to learning my way around this steemit thing!

omg your life looks so great. If you had a choice between having a house or a yacht, which would it be?

No need for a yacht - too much upkeep. Can I choose a humble boat and a remote cabin??

Soo greattt

Wel come at good platform for better
