Remember in school, when a teacher had to leave the room for a moment and would tell us to "talk amongst yourselves", whilst they did or said stuff we weren't supposed to know about? Well, I think we're in a similar space but on a much larger scale, where the powers that be, basically make us "fight amongst ourselves" whilst they do stuff we aren't supposed to know about. I can't start my day without a laugh and some music. It is a great escape. There is a lot to be said for people taking responsibility of their own happiness, no matter how hard they find it.

Oh, definitely - they want people to direct their ire at innocents rather than corrupt political leaders. This is why people on both ends of the political spectrum are encouraged (by politicians) to make negative judgements about people based solely on their backgrounds (whether it be financial, ethnic, etc - all stuff that is not the main factor in defining what a person is like.) And so many people seem to get sucked into it. We are encouraged to collectivise (and hold negative views accordingly) rather than individualise and take people as they are.
@clumsysilverdad wrote an article on Generation X, and it touched on quite a few good points.
We are being polarised into a "with us or against us" culture. People seem to be happiest when they can go into their homes and stop "fitting in" to other peoples ideals, and just be themselves. We should do our own research since there is more than one truth out there. The more we take responsibility for our own actions, the better we become as a collective society.
