Hello, fellow Steemians! My name's Tom, musician, producer and all round audio guy based in the UK.
I'm going to try and keep this short and sweet - which sounds like the start of a self-fulfilling prophecy with a bad ending.
I'm here because, like many of you, I'm overexcited by this wonderful thing we call cryptocurrency and the blockchain. I want to explore how a platform like this can benefit musicians, artists and creatives; how it can give freedom to people following a less traditional path through life and support those wanting to grow there creativity.
Where social media's old school has failed, I believe something like SteemIt can fill in the gaps and take things to the next level!
A few things I'm into:
- Music (seems like an obvious one): Production, consumption, you name it I love it. I hear music in everything, from the string of a violin to the rev of an engine. The all-consuming world of sound that I've made myself part of.
- Video Production: I'm not very good, but it's something I like to do in my spare time. I have a few videos out online. I really want to do more of it, let me know what you think.
- Coffee: Now, this turned into an obsession - to be honest, just about everything in this list has turned into an obsession at some point. I'm the guy with 6 manual brewing methods who weighs not only his beans but also his water. It's all in the detail and the detail brings out the flavour! Got to get that sweet caffeinated goodness!
- Cooking: Man's gotta eat, and he loves to eat well! The only thing more satisfying than cooking from scratch is sharing it with the people you love.
Favourite Bands:
You know what, this changes all the time and I hate it when people ask me. BUT I will tell you three and only three artists I've been listening to a lot recently. You'll have to follow me to see how this changes.
- Tame Impala keep finding their way back into my playlists at the moment. Kevin Parker can do no wrong, we all know that.
- The Cat Empire more Australians making more great music! I've been listening to them for years, and I don't think I'll ever stop.
- Jesca Hoop my girlfriend loves her and, to be honest, I can't get enough either.
Things I've been watching recently:
I was going to do favourite films, everyone does favourite films (again, a dreaded question with an ever-changing answer). But I thought I'd talk about what I've been watching and what I've really enjoyed.
- The End of The Fucking World: Channel 4 drama streaming on Netflix. I won't lie, it's pretty messed up but it's definitely worth the watch.
- Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee: Jerry Seinfeld talking to comedians about life, work and everything else, useless or otherwise. Great wind-down TV.
- NeedleDrop: Like just about every other music lover in the western hemisphere, I love to watch @theneedledrop, and knowing he's on SteemIt makes me love the whole thing even more.
- Tested: What's better than watching Adam Savage in MythBusters? Watching Adam Savage build movie props and lego sets on YouTube...
Thanks in advance for having me...
Things are only just beginning here, and that's what makes it so exciting. I'm thrilled to be part of this community and can't wait to really get my teeth stuck in. Here's to the future fellow pioneers.
