How this all started

newbie in Steemit #TeamMalaysia. This post definitely my 1st in Steemit and sure will be working on more sharings coz sharing is caring! The very first things that come out from my mind once I found Steemit was that, I can share my interest on empowering parents with special needs children or even to the public who has either direct or indirect contact with autism or other special needs children within their family and community! Also gonna share my activities which I get involved with. I believe Steemit is a perfect social media platform for me to start with after I found it from @angiechin. I got to know her through HERPORTAL group during KL Women Career & Bazaar Fair at Wondermama cafe in Bangsar last year.I’m @esdee, a

Who am I, anyway?

First came love (El), then marriage, then three kids (Trisyia, Erina and Aish). Erina has been diagnosed with Autism Syndrome Disorder (ASD) at 4 years old (back then was 2012). I can say, she is different from my other 2 kids as she has speech delayed since 2 years old. But now her progress has been encouraging after going through EIP and therapies. I launched Sibs Circle FB page in July last year as an inspirational, informational resources to empowering parenting with autism children and encourage family bonding with a new perspective.

I’m a Consultant on Multiple Intelligence through Dermatoglyphics assessment (scientific fingerprints analysis… No palm reading here just our unique fingerprints) which I do together with my husband and also a homemaker. This assessment helps to discover the natural inborn talent of any individuals regardless of any age and their background. (I’ll talk more about this in my later sharing.)

What inspires me?

Definitely my daughter. We feel blessed by having Erina although she has diagnosed with ASD at 4 years old (back then was in the year 2012). Her presence really turns my family life 360 degrees. My husband and I kind of lost as nobody has ever told us about what is autism all about as physically she looks as normal kids. Our earlier years was challenging coz we don’t know where to start. But now I managed to overcome my anxiety about her development as I believe I should start with establishing strong bonding within the family. To keep myself updated and get to know her better every day, I do research together with husband and share it with her siblings then the immediate family members. They are all being good supporters to us. Next, lead me to a successful and famous autistic figure, Dr Temple Grandin. She’s a PhD holder in animal science and the author of several autism books including The Loving Push which I admire. She even featured in a movie called: Temple Grandin in 2010.

My Advocacy

Mainly exploring the best learning environment with strong eco-support system for children and individuals with special needs that can be vitally important for a number of reasons; These ideas will provide a framework that can improvise life from being a victim to an injustice or unfairness of a government/health policy, it can help those who are slipping through the system to be recognized, and receive access to special needs resources, and it can even unite people to fight for a common cause. Most importantly – it can help your child receive the services, care, and/or benefits that he or she needs to realize his or her full potential. Not plead for sympathy here - just inclusion and respect as they have same right like anyone else too!

Thanks for checking out my intro, and hope to make a bunch of new friends! ;D
