I joined the steemit community a bit over a week ago and have so far posted 5 articles, gained 15 followers, and have earned current rewards of 0.039 SBD and 0.023 SP, both of which I know nothing about. I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology so I still haven't figured out how this whole 'steemit' thing works, but I'm clearly doing something wrong if I can't get any attention... it seems most people do an 'introduceyourself' piece so here I am giving that a go...
Perhaps the other reason I haven't earned too many followers is that my content is about economics, a subject which I'm sure most people aren't too interested in, but a subject that is very important to society and one that has played a big part in all of you joining the steemit community... in case you've been sleeping over the last decade, we've just been through a global financial crisis that caused governments to panic and print trillions of dollars to bail out the banking system and stop everything from collapsing. Problem is, it didn't really work... all that money printing only delayed the inevitable and the extreme weakness of the financial system has driven many people to alternative investments such as bitcoin, etherium and other cryptocurrencies, including steemit
This is a very serious problem that we should all take seriously, but unfortunately we've been dumbed down into a society that favors hot women writing travel blogs and posting pictures in their bikini over understanding the economy we all depend on. Nevertheless, I will continue my efforts to educate the masses, one person at a time if that's what it takes..

Hello dear friend @edwineconomics, your posts on economics are accepted and nice, keep it up, don't be discouraged by the effects of followers nor rewards, the impact you put today in steemit has your name registered on them forever as long as steemit exist. Soon people of like mind will identify with you, try and lookout for newbies like yourself and comment on their intro posts, steemit chat is also ideal for making friends and promoting your posts. With time things will change shape for good as you know and grow in the knowledge of steemit. ONE LOVE.

For the 0.039 SBD and 0.023 SP in your wallet, SP represent your power in steemit, don't worry, it'll grow with more post rewards and curations, then for SBD; they are like your currency in steemit which you can trade with or convert to steem.
