My name is Ken, in the photo with me is my fiance Heather. I've been a member of Steemit since September 2017, right around the time I made the leap into investing in cryptocurrencies for the first time. Since then I've mostly been a content consumer, commenting when I find the articles & authors interesting. But that's all about to change.
It's long overdue for me to start contributing articles on a more regular basis under some of the tags where I feel like I can add value to the community. I'll introduce myself according to some of the topics I plan on contributing to more frequently in the future.
Entrepreneur & Business
A few years ago I had an idea to for a business that focused on physical products in the fitness & yoga market, using Static Cling Decals for exercises and yoga pose illustrations. I slowly made progress on the idea, working with designers on Fiverr and Upwork to create the designs and Alibaba and ThomasNet to find suppliers and order samples. After about 20 design iterations and 50 supplier samples, I finally felt like I had a product that I felt was ready for launch. And so See & Be Fitness was born. More in depth articles on this soon!
Health, Fitness, and Yoga
It only makes sense that I should contribute to the Health, Fitness, and Yoga forums on Steemit, owning a business in the market. I'll be honest, the past year was not my best for my own fitness levels. That being said, a series of posts that will be coming soon will be documenting my journey to get back into shape this year, working up to my wedding in September. This series will cover my training routine, diet, and key metrics of my progress using a scale that gives Weight, Body Fat, Muscle, and Water statistics. Here are my starting metrics.
Investing, Finance and Real Estate
Steemit is a good source of crypto news... and rumors... and hype. While I have a position in a few different cryptocurrencies, the vast majority of my investments are in more traditional assets, such as stocks, mutual funds, and real estate. I won't be giving professional investment advice, but I will be sharing my experiences, my strategies, and my opinions on building wealth.
Some topics I'll be covering in future posts:
- Stocks:
- Stocks over Bonds
- Dividend Stocks vs Growth Stocks
- Industry Analysis
- Retirement Strategies
- 401k vs Roth IRA
- Managed Funds vs Index Funds
- Goal setting and action plans
- Real Estate
- Buying and Managing Rental Properties
- Rehabs and Remodeling
- Building Spec Houses
Travel
Traveling has been a really important part of my life since I was a child. My parents made sure we saw the majority of the US while I was growing up, and in high school I began traveling outside the US on my own. I've lived in 4 different countries, traveled to over 30, and have goals of living overseas again someday. Experiencing different cultures has helped provide me with perspective and an open mind about how to live life. The places I've seen, the people I've met, the food I've eaten, the trouble I've gotten into, and the lessons learned. They've all helped shape who I am today. For me, traveling is investing in your own personal growth.
I'll be taking a few trips to memory lane in future posts, recapping 3 month long back packing trips through Europe and Asia, as well as the shorter trips with the limited vacation available when you have a day job.
I'm thrilled to be a part of the community and hope my contributions make it stronger and benefit my readers. If you are interested in some of the topics I plan on posting about, please follow me so you get the latest material in your feed! Hope I can chat with some of you 1 on 1. This community is about making friends too!

Hey Ken,
You're more experienced than I am here, but since this is an introduction -- welcome and nice to meet you. My background is in entrepreneurship (congrats on the new business) and I just started investing in cryptos last month (I'm hooked).
What got you more interested in contributing regularly instead of just consuming posts here and there -- interest in cryptos? Do you plan on re-investing what you make in STEEM or playing around in other coins?
Nice to meet you and thanks for posting a bit about your background and interests.
Honestly, I like the idea of networking globally and getting the chance to hone my skills with publishing more frequently. This is a great place to write about my business and my hourney back to tip-top shape. The feedback from people such as yourself will be extremely valuable when I introduce new ideas, testing new marketing strategies, and general business functions (like hiring freelancers and virtual assistants).
How about you? What keeps you coming back to Steemit (besides being hooked on cryptos!)?
Awesome. I'll be following and I look forward to your content.
Good question. I think this is a good topic for a post (thanks!). Off the top of my head, I think it's the fun and community backed by the potential of the platform. Does that make sense? Like with your business, even if you really enjoyed what you were doing, if you didn't believe it could grow into a larger and sustainable business, you probably would look for another opportunity.
Very true. Confidence in your undertakings is essential to success in life in general. Business. Careers. Relationships. Even online communities!
Hi Ken! I enjoyed your post and just started following you. I'm brand new and just trying to figure this thing out.
I'm especially looking forward to watching your fitness transformation. I'm in a similar boat; I work in the fitness industry, but my own fitness is lacking. It's all part of the journey, but being in it with others helps to smooth the road. Thanks!
Hey JJ! Maybe we can team up at some point and get a challenge going! Or keep each other motivated at the very least! I'm running and doing bodyweight exercises currently. I need to focus more on my diet too.... luckily football season is almost over and my beer consumption will drop drastically!
Hope to see more of your posts in the future! Take care!
@digitaldruid I love that idea of possibly teaming up for a challenge. I'm watching to see what others are doing with challenges. I'd love to hear any thoughts you have.
I took a few weeks off from CrossFit training due to a chronic back injury (shoveling snow of all things) and have been doing some yoga and rehab exercises. But, I'm ready to get back at it.
How was your training today? When you're on your nutrition plan, what kind do you follow?
Went on a 2.5 mile run, 100 pushups (5x20), and around 20 pull ups. Solid day, but will need to step it up a bit to reach new goals. Burpees are going to become a staple.
Want to connect on Steemit chat or discord? Eager to hear how we can work together to get something going!
Great work! I think it's funny you mentioned burpees, as that was part of my workout today! 40 burpees along with my glute rehab exercises and a yoga session. Amping up the intensity in upcoming workouts.
And, yes, I'd love to connect on Steemit chat or discord; you'll just have to explain to this newbie how. I'm on Steemit chat but haven't really used it. I see discord mentioned but don't really know anything about it.
You can message me directly on steemit chat, same user name. You can find the app by going to the menu (upper right, and searching thr options... down the list after the Steemit store)
Wow you seem like a wealth of knowledge . Nice introduction and I got into Steemit through reading up on different posts. I’m @bigapplebo if you want to check me out.
Thanks/Tack! I've read a few of your posts and watched a few videos. Hopefully we can teach each other a few things!
I’m looking forward to your articles. Thanks for the advice you’ve given me so far.
No problem! Hopefully I can get better at writing so I add more value to people's lives! I'm struggling with how long articles should be.... any advice?
Any areas of interest that you're particularly interested in? I'd love to engage more with active followers like yourself!
Obviously, I’m interested in reading about fitness tips right now. I also find real estate tips interesting. I think you’ve chosen some great areas to focus on. I’ve found that chosing a niche and approaching it from a unique angle works pretty well. As for length, I find that I prefer posts that can be read in ten or fifteen minutes. I’m usually on the go, so it’s hard for me to get through the longer posts that are out there.
Thanks for the advice! The fitness tips will be coming shortly. Trying to put together a daily exercise series using some of the product designs from my business.
Just curious (newbie question), what is the best way to message individual users on Steemit?
Either through Steemit Chat or Discord. The thing about Discord is that even if people are on it, it can be hard to find which server they’re in. Often, I just aske people in the comments how I can contact them. And follow up on what they tell me.
I'll say welcome to the posting part of the population then! I find writing to be a great catharsis, as well as a good way to hash my way through ideas and problems. Writing to an audience just takes it one step further and allows for instant feedback. Steemit is great because it's truly global and there are so many diverse viewpoints and beliefs represented here.
Look forward to some of your contributions!
Thanks man! Where in the PacNW do you live? I used to live in Seattle and usually get back up there a few times a year.
Hoping that I learn a ton from the feedback I get and the general process of creating content. Hope to see more of you on the comment threads and look forward to your contributions as well!
Hi ken. welcome to steemit family. :)
Thanks! Hope you find value in my future posts. Hope to see you on more of the comments sections and see you post some great articles too!

Been a quiet contributor here for a while. Sounds like you didn't read the post...
I read the post and I noticed your reputation score is not 25 like most new steemers. However, since you posted in the introduceyourself category I thought it would be nice to give you a welcome. I'm looking forward to your fitness posts and anything else you may post on. We have many common interests.
Good stuff Spencer. Glad to see you're active in welcoming the new comers. Hope you check in a bit more on some of my future articles. Definitely looking to develop my skills in marketing. One of the biggest areas of need in getting my new business into high gear!
