Allow Me to Introduce Myself. I'm D-Steezy.

Hello, SteemIt world. My name is Daniel, or D-Steezy as my friends like to call me. Hence, the @d-steezy username. I'm excited to be a part of this. It's my first time posting and it's my first day trying to figure out how everything works around here. Please bear with me. :D

About Me

I'm 28 years old. I live in Colorado. I'm married. I have a one-year-old son named Arthur. I have a second one on the way in a few weeks here (April 2018) and his name will be David. I guess I would consider myself a bit of a nerd, if I had to call myself anything. My interests tend to include art, music, reading, writing, anime, movies, tv shows, video games, comic books, and so on.

I've recently decided to leave my soul-crushing job in pizza delivery in order to pursue my passion as an aspiring author. It was beginning to really screw with my depression and I just felt worse and worse about myself and where my life was going. After spending 6 years in comfort and complacency, I finally decided I needed a change in my life. So, I decided to leave pizza delivery behind in my rearview mirror and start on my path to a much-neglected love of mine, writing. It really has been something I've let get away from me and I've made every excuse in the book as to why I haven't written anything of substance or completed a piece of writing in years. I want to get back to that side of myself and do something I enjoy again. The genres I tend to dabble in mostly end up being horror and crime/drama/mystery. Some of my favorite authors include Stephen King, Clive Barker, Jeff Lindsay, Mario Puzo, Dashiell Hammett, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

While I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing with that, I kind of need a place to get the juices flowing, or at least keep myself in the habit of writing something every day. My brother-in-law actually told me about SteemIt and how it's a great place for anyone who needs a creative outlet or enjoys writing, blogging, etc. I hope I can make a few friends here and bring some fun entertainment to everyone here. I haven't tried blogging before, nor have I tried something like SteemIt where you can make some money by just posting whatever you want. I'm not saying that's the sole purpose of why I'm here, but I guess I'd be lying if I didn't say the prospect of making money for blogging wasn't an enticing idea. You know, with the whole leaving my job to pursue writing thing, SteemIt sounds like a good place I can really sink my teeth into on my new path.

What to (Probably) Expect from Me:

• As an avid fan of film and television, I'll likely post movie/tv show reviews. I can talk about the subject for hours and hours. Everything from the storytelling aspect of a tv show or film to the things I find interesting about the filmmaking process. I won't necessarily stick to whatever is in theaters or on tv at the moment. It might end up being something I watched recently or something that's on my mind and I really want to talk about it. Perhaps SteemIt will be a good place to post my musings?

• On top of the previous bullet, I may also post my own personal thoughts about things rattling around in my brain about movies/tv shows and whatnot. Things I wouldn't call reviews, just things I find interesting and want to talk about. I'm always told I have a treasure trove of useless knowledge and trivia, so maybe I can put it to use here?

• Maybe I'll do the same for other things in my interest wheel house like talking about books I've read or music I've listened to recently that I really want to talk about. Something along those lines.

• If I'm not beating myself up too bad by being my own worst critic, I may post some of my writing here and see what others think of it. I guess we'll see about that. I'm kind of self-conscience about my work and have a tendency to take long periods of time in order to complete anything. I've kind of got to shake some cobwebs loose and get rid of the writing rust first.

• Random silliness maybe? I don't know. I guess I'll figure out what else I'd like to blog about in time?

Anyways, this is me introducing myself to you. I hope it wasn't the worst thing in the world you've seen today. I hope to get to know people here and become a part of the SteemIt community. Thanks for letting me be here.
