Continuing my introductory post, to elaborate a bit on "who" I am - is a fairly complicated task, even at the best of times - some days I barely know how to define that myself!Β

But since being old enough to think for myself, I've always stuck to my own convictions.

And I was never a "typical" kid, teen or grown up - by any means...

I never believed that anyone had the right to tell me what to do - or what NOT to do.
I was always of the opinion, that anyone has the right to do anything they wanted;
as long as it didn't hurt any other rights of individuals.

You can probably imagine what kind of life this had led to - at least in part.
But for now that's not really relevant at the moment.
Maybe later, but for now I'll leave my past life where it lies for now... :)

My nature as a 'misfit' was however, the original reason I got into BitCoin when I did.

All I knew was that I HATED the banking system with a vengeance, and that I wanted out!
And that this decentralized currency was challenging that system - among other things... ;)

I didn't know anything about the underlying technology of BitCoin at the time.
I had no idea if the numbers on my screen actually reflected the BitCoin i supposedly had.
And despite being an above average PC user - (**** Apple from here till next tuesday) ;D
It also took me a while to understand and set up my first wallet, to move my first BitCoins.

So in 2012 I bought my first bag of BitCoin.

I can't remember the price, and I had to trade them OTC, on a site like Localbitcoins.com.
If that wasn't actually where I got them - my memory fails me.Β

This led me to figure out, where I could spend this new, decentralized currency.
And in those days - there wasn't alot of places where that was possible - until I found TOR.

Which opened a whooole new world to me...

To be continued...

Brevity is the soul of wit - and longewity the soul of the contemplative!Β

My name is Cliff... Cliff Hanger... ;P
Loving the short form tho - perfect for the trainride home - keep 'em coming!!! :)

What's with the weird titles though!? :D

I'll try my best - it's good fun writing them in the lunchbreak as well, and a good little earner on the side ;D

The titles are normal titles, but spelt out in "Leetspeak": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet

So... 2012... that would have been like $4-15 BTC!!!
Hope you bought a heavy bag then! :Pdrawstring_bag,x1404-bg,f8f8f8.u2.jpg

Not heavy enough! ;D

You are cool. Thanks for sharing, hehe. I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold. You can call me Joey.

Thnx - it's turning out to be a good way to get your eyes of the charts, if nothing else ;D

Should probably stop doing them at 3am, and give them an extra proof, reading it back over now :D

Hello @cryptos17. I've noticed that this account, @lawfulevil, @gibberishcode, @arcanum, @dragon-princess, @rhll, @buyvotes, @onceprince, and about 200 more accounts belong to you and/or people you know, and are being upvoted by all accounts in the group.

You honestly seem like a worthwhile guy to have around, but I have to let you know that all of these dust votes from free Steemit-provided accounts should stop. By voting 200+ times on each comment, you may be making a few cents for each, assuming they don't get downvoted. But you're externalizing the costs on to the Steem network in a way that cumulatively has a pronounced negative effect. The memory and resource requirements, plus blockchain file size get more bloated. This affects every running Steem node, including those run by the markets that make it possible for the tokens to have value.

With this in mind I'd like to extend my welcome to you but also let you and/or your friends know that these upvotes will reduce the value you find here rather than enhance it. Thanks for listening.

Since when is having a trail group or buying votes illegal? As far as I have seen, people are openly providing these services across steemit.

@alliesin - Thanks for the input BTW (new to the SteemIt platform) it's mostly just a way to do stream of consciousness and showing blockchain usecases to muggles... :P

hey man, you're welcome. I hope you're enjoying the platform.

This is the kind of thing you're talking about right?
https://steembottracker.com/

No, I am referring to the group of about 200 accounts, mostly sybil accounts that have been improperly gained from the Steemit account faucet, that are all voting at once on your posts, and comments by all or most of the other accounts I named. I don't know who these accounts belong to but I am asking that they discontinue using them this way. The few cents in rewards they may generate will be nullified either way, going forward.

I was asking @alliesin - the accounts you refer to are not under my control, and I am not the proprietor - I have asked that I be removed from the votechain, which is all I can do. What the owner(s) of the remaining accounts do, is up to them.

Thank you for your input though.

Appreciated!

Please re-read my comment and understand what costs such a trail has on the network.

I think your comment speaks to a more underlying problem with this blockchain, if scalability/costs is affected by mechanisms allowed by the protocol.

That argument has been used before. There is a significant difference in value and network effect of 200 real people using the network vs one person controlling 200 accounts. In theory, the value of the token will increase with the number of real users. So in theory it's more worthwhile and economically feasible to run a Steem node to support those real users, because they return value. Whereas the sybil accounts are mostly drag.

I don't know the particulars of this "votingchain" or how that person or persons use it - but who's to say it isn't 200 real accounts that have "banded" together to help one another out..?

Seems like ALOT of work for not much profit, to spend that much time setting up fake accounts? (Keep in mind I don't know if this is the case, just posing a theoretical here, as I'm new to this chain and not fully up to speed on its protocol) - what's worse in your opinion; selling your SP for gains, indiscriminate of content vs. people gathering their SP in unison?

Seems like ALOT of work for not much profit

It's not alot of work to set up a bot and voting trail. Last year one group of accounts was doing this for $1k a day with about 20,000 accounts. There are hundreds of such operations ranging from 50 accounts to over 25,000 accounts.

The money is from the faucet and is therefore taking accounts away from 'real' users.

If @alliesin wants to buy 3,000SP and delegate it to their 200 accounts to run a service or trail that is acceptable if still frowned upon since it creates vote spam.
