I see that you have a lot of different interests, hopefully we can grow the history/geography/psychology/those kinds of sciences base on steemit! I think there are some others with interests in the sports you mention (there are many nerds here who don't know what a bike pedal looks like, and I know I don't know how to slack-line.)

Yes, you can make money on steemit, anyone can, but it's a litttttle bit more complex than just posting and having regular people vote on your post. I'll be back to explain that a bit more later, or you can find out for yourself by reading some guides.

For now though, I advise you to follow @steemstem, because they post stuff like this https://steemit.com/steemstem/@steemstem/steemstem-distilled-19 written by people like you, and if you do the currency conversion on those posts... well... let's just say it can be worth it for some to have your article selected by their team. No way those amounts can be real, you tell yourself? Well, right now if an article displays $200, they probably choose the 50/50 steem/SBD payout option, which means $100 worth of steem (so 20 steem if 1 steem is $5) and 50 SBD (1 SBD for every steem worth on the post.. it's a bit weird) so if 1 SBD is worth $5 (I know it's more like 7 right now, this is just an example) then the post is worth 50+250 of steem/SBD. So if that seems even weirder than $200, then you owe it to yourself to follow @dragosroua, who has been following the rise of the price in steem and sbd in some very... enlightening articles. Also, if you are new to crypto or bitcoin, here is an article you can read about for the bitcoin price (though your opinion may differ... as you have personally experienced what the author kind of callously refers to... sorry my friend, I truly am)
