Introducing myself - Consider this my "slate"

Hello Steemians, my name is Cecilia and I'm an actor, model, and college student - and the above are all examples of slates, or ways I've officially introduced myself to casting directors. Usually it includes my name and another piece of information or two, based on the role I'm auditioning for. Now, I'm doing a different kind of slate: one where I get to decide what to say!

Growing up, I loved to imitate scenes from movies and dance along to the credits. By the time I got to middle school, I was taking as many theatre classes as I could and auditioning for all sorts of plays, dreaming of being a star. During high school, I signed on with Carolina Talent agency and became involved with the film community in North Carolina.

Being more involved with industry professionals made me realize that there are real career opportunities for me here. In North Carolina, acting and modeling go hand-in-hand, because so much of the work is commercial or promotional. Though I'm a bit short to walk the runways of Fashion Week, you can catch me laughing it up in a Wild Wing Cafe commercial. And I love it!

One thing I particularly love about film or photoshoots is the amount of people I get to meet. I've networked with a ton of really cool people through the years, and I'm always looking for ways to keep in touch and expand my social circles. That's part of what made me interested in Steemit; though I don't know much about cryptocurrency and will have to get to know the community, I want the chance to connect with new people. I'm also hoping to learn more along the way!

I'm studying film in college, since I love acting but need to learn more about production. Many successful actors make their own work, and I would love to be able to produce my own projects to be in. At this point, I've grown out of any ideas for fame or fortune - though that might be nice, that's not my reason for pursuing this career path. I'm doing this because there's no other way I would want to make my living.
