Hi steemians! Brace Yourselves For Another Steemian

My name is Carol, new to steemit, and cannot wait to start making new friends. Please welcome me.

Why steemit?
I have gone through steemit content, and one thing that I have realized is that the comments section is out of this world. I do not have to worry about people who bring others down because it is as if all the good people have come together to form a positive and an encouraging community. I have tried other social media, but I am always wary of putting up content that some hateful person will find a reason to attack the creator of the material and other people who comment.

Origin
I come from a beautiful country called Kenya, and contrary to what most people think, we have 3 big cities, national parks, we have 42 tribes and diverse cultures. I hear some people think we live in the bush….lol!

What will I bring on board?
I have been in the cryptocurrency craze for almost two years now, and my life has never been this exciting. The roller coaster and stuff in this business is all fun and some tears once in a while…lol. I have a creative imagination and have so far written a lot though nothing has been published so far….I write about my experiences, my expectations, fiction and real stories and poetry is my strongest area. Anyways, since this is my first post, I will be precise and hope that someone will see something good in my content. I love writing poems and here is an original piece. Enjoy!

COLOR IN THE PAST

Back in the days when all was colorful,
The sun had color that brightened the morning,
The dew on the grass had color that made dawn have its meaning,
The rain had the color that intensified the smell of the soil, painting a beautiful memory in our minds.

Back in those days the birds sung randomly, the sound soothed our evenings,
Those days every musical melody had a memory attached to it,
People looked beautiful on the roads, riding bikes, reading on roads benches, and laughing loudly,
The days we analyzed magazine pictures in detail and wished, we could be the beautiful people in them when we grew up.

We had more fun playing with siblings and neighbor’s children in the rain,
Those are the days I remember when I come across the scents of the oils I applied then,
When I listen to the good old music,
When I visit the countryside during rainy season,
When I come across my childhood friends,
Nothing compares to those days!

Nothing can bring me back those feelings,
I am sad that I have grown up,
Acquired my own “little” wealth,
Designed my lifestyle and still far from happy compared to my past.

I have a few friends,
However, I do not have the patience to enjoy everything in life,
I am in a rush to catch up with the new happenings every day,
Therefore, I do not have the time to feel the way the dust smells when it rains,
Since I’m often in the office, in the car or too busy stressed by other stuff,

I cannot remember the last time I felt dew with my bare feet,
Guess it is the thing they call global warming,
I have not heard birds singing in ages,
Think it is the noise and pollution in the town that made the birds migrates,
Or the headphones that live on my ears,
I have not heard the sound of water in a river because the water I see is always in the videos.

I’m in search of new memories…..and beautiful ones…..
